Headlamps now spaced to the carrier bracket. Brass for the modern take on the KR (not sure why before anyone asks!) alloy for the replica version...
Been stuck for a while, made some small brackets now the frame is tacked and stopped at the front left main frame brace which needed a shaped plate with dimple die holes of two different sizes. Not really done anything similar before but really wanted to do as much of this project myself (other than the welding of course). Finally getting there, a little shaping and finishing still but pleased this hurdle is over.
Mint, did you make up a die to make the frame pressings? How do you do that? Do you drill a hole and then make up a die to get the radius? Good work fella, respect due.
Yeh, there are some on Ebay for about £80 each and I needed 2 different sizes. I had been thinking of different ways of doing them without but finally had some dies made at work for the price of a couple of coffee's. I used my 10 tonne hydraulic pipe bender to press them home, then bashed the plate back into shape afterwards. The bottom curved radius I used a bent piece of pipe on the vice and a hammer. Still needs a little tidying but it's getting there at last. Thanks for the comments, it's taking a bit longer than your build!
Dead impressed mucker, hand beaten to shape with a hammer on the vice, good skill's indeed, we are not worthy, ii'm just fettling standard parts on my build, you are taking it to another level, big up's...
Finished the RH frame brace other than a small piece which is welded in separately at the rear. Lots of hammering and bending in the vice and it fits snug
Slowly getting there with frame number 1 - finished the Swing Arm mounts apart from boring the holes for the tube pivot points which will be done when jigged. They have been difficult to make with only hand tools but got there in the end!
Hey Ex,you are starting to take the piss a bit.Cant you pull your finger out.If you dont get a move on Im gonna have to put the tele on.
