Just saw this for sale on a local selling Facebook site. Why even bother? He wants 300 quid for it as well! Let me get in there first before someone says it's better looking than the 749.
He states in his ad that it's a kit from eBay that he paid 90 quid for and it does 25-30 mph. God knows why he thinks he can now get 300 for it.
Wouldn't be road legal as it is. Technically it is a motorbike so, assuming it could be registered? then with the correct minimum equipment required for a motorcycle plus a licence, tax, MOT etc. it could be used on the road. Of course PC 'bicycle' plod would never catch you so....
I'd love to see the MOT testing station mechanic when you pulled up in this asking for an MOT. I'd sit there and watch him just for the horn test

So not even legal for a 16yr old. I appreciate the concept (how Ducati started) and if it were OK for road use as it is I would probably get one just for the hell of it, less than £80 and I've got a 'spare' bike or two to use but in reality I couldn't be arsed with the legal implications. I wonder what the legality would be if one was riding it on the road under pedal power and the engine not running? Is it still a 'motorbike' or simply a bicycle carrying an engine?
When I was 15, me and a mate were pushing a 350 Enfield Bullet home which I had been given. There was a dribble of petrol in the tank; it wasn't insured; it wasn't taxed; it wasn't MOTd. The bike was on the pavement and local Plod took a dim view and said he could nick us for several things; but because we knew him quite well he just gave us a telling off and cycled alongside us while we got it home....... I never checked up to see if we were doing something illegal or not, but I suspect we were.
In charge of a motor vehicle I assume? Similar to people being done for drink-driving (drunk in charge?) if sleeping off a drinking session in their car?
Besides if I had one, it wouldn't be long before a bit of 'tinkering' started, in order to extract a little more power; bigger carb, exhaust, gasflow, big-bore and ultimately a larger engine. Now where's that old ST2 engine gone?...
A motorcycle used to fall into the bicycle bracket at one time, although it may be many years ago now so this may no longer hold true. I wonder where you would stand if you only wanted say a daytime MOT on it. It would be interesting to know all the ins and outs of the situation as I would be tempted for one just for nipping out down the local shops! Many years ago I restored a Velosolex for someone and it was fundamentally a bicycle with an engine that you dropped over the front wheel and a roller propelled the bike along, it did about 30 mph flat out but it was legal and had no lights. In theory if you could get one of the above on the road it should be £17 a year to tax it. The picture below is something how it looked although it wasn't this model and this one seems to have a crude light. No battery on it and it may have just had a back light running off a dynamo.
