At last I will soon be the owner of a Duke! When I was about 13 or so way back in 1976, my Brother bought his first bike, a Suzuki TS125a from the great Vic Camp, he had a small shop in Queens rd, Walthamstow, there was a "Camp" racing bike there, I think a converted TS250? Over in a corner there was a green (if memory serves me right) Ducati 860 gt, I think it was new, it was huge and loud just standing there, a most beautiful machine in a gaudy green and gold - I think! I never got over its looks, then a short while later came a few other models in the shop, a 900ss black and gold, 900 Darmahs oh my! I went the usual route ~ Ujms all makes but at 52, I grew up, I have won a 749 Bip on fleabag and am arranging delivery hopefull this week, it needs some work as it is slightly damaged but, I've got the time and hope to have it ready for Spring, can't wait so, meantime, I've join this great site and am getting stuck in to the nitty gritty of Ducati ownership, I hope to post my progress for all to see.
Congrats mate and welcome to this most exciting sanitarium, its full of delusional fools that think red is the fastest colour and they never learn. The locals will start popping in shortly, be afraid, very afraid. Big Welcome.
Thanks Cupid, I had the same problem when I owned a VTR Firestorm, they would insist Red was the faster colour - mine was Black with naughty number boards and no Red VTRS ever for in front of me! Never mind, this looks like a cracking forum.
There are a lot of people on here with a wealth of knowledge, especially regarding old bikes like pre 2008 models mainly coz they are all old too
