  2. Tracksense best outfit out there IMO. You pay an extra couple of quid with them but you'll see why when you get there. More laid back than FE and NL. They'll datalog your laptimes which is addictive!
    Enjoy...

  3. yep i second that tracksense are really good track day operators. they are a bit smaller that the likes of NL and FE and therefore they are never going to be the cheapest, but for whats on offer they are very good value imho and the 2 events i have done with them have been so much more relaxed and well organised when compared with some of the other firms

i did slovakiaring with them last year and it was really fantastic, watching it on you tube its doesnt look like much as the terrain is flat but the designers have really thought are about how to make it flow and keep it challenging and exciting to ride. some really (silly) fast corners, a very technical infield section where you are driving on the edge of the tyre a lot (reminded me of Valencia a bit) and a few hills positioned carefully to make your sphincter tighten (and generally with plenty of run off should you fuck it up). garage facilities and restaurant at track were good and live timing screens were running in each garage showing last and fastest lap for all riders, and you could go and ask for a print out of your times at amy point

these larger events are piggy backed onto a large german operator (Bike Promotion) who despite being ultra friendly, quite jovial and lighthearted are actually a serious outfit with multiple support trucks with tyres and loads of spares available inc fairings etc for a range of bikes. its a full on race weekend for some inc some sidecar races too

in additon to the basic track time there were sprint races inclusive (if you wanted)(we later discovered that we were some of the races were actually heats in the Romanian super bike championship! but they were not scary ,well not near the back where i was lol) and for a little extra we also competed in a 3 man 500km endurance race which was epic and probably some of the best track time i have ever done

podium photo op, trophies and cheap bubbly at the end, whole thing was a brilliant laugh

the hotel is a decent corporate type affair, clean and comfortable,
its a 10 min cab/tram ride or 20 min walk from the centre of bratislava which is a fun town and pretty cheap, the hotel restaurant was excellent and there are few reasonable restaurants (pizza, chinese etc) immediately around the hotel too if you are felling lazy

takes about 30 mins to drive from the hotel to the circuit

only shame is they had to make it 3 days rather than 4 this year as honda bought the track for 3 weeks of testing and insisted!

  6. tks man appreciate it. Was onto Tracksense again this morning just firming a few more details :upyeah:

Tks for that very informative reply Funk, most helpful. I kinda got nervous at the bit about "sphincter tighten" :Wideyed: lol. Im relatively new to track days but open minded toa degree. I'd say on the 1098s I'd be fairly well able to wind it up

I was looking at some vids there, its a man track for sure...youd really wanna be on your games as your moving at quite a pace!

Id say now in th evenings id rather chill with a beer and some grub, relax. Been at the gym a bit, still few punds to go but building stamina, not mr incredible or anything, but just keeping in shape to a degree.

appreciate the informative post, top job :upyeah: :upyeah:

  7. don't worry its meant in a good way :)

there are 4 hills IIRC, 2 of them are just before/on braking areas into slower corners from fast parts of the track, (both have lots of run off should you misjudge it or get brake fade), key is to pick consistent braking markers.

one is a bit before the super fast turn 2 so you have to try and keep the nose down going over the crest without losing too much momentum (tricky) and the track is very wide there though so theres room to collect yourself if you run wide and there a big gravel trap at the other end if you really lose it!!.

the fourth is an uphill drag coming out of the chicane beyond which is a long straight drive to the last 180 degree corner so again thats more about getting a good exit line and drive from the chicane and remembering keep to your weight over the front at the crest
its one of the very few tracks where i have ever used the back brake
