899 Ducati Withdraw Extended Warranty Program!

Discussion in 'Panigale' started by Jimmy899, Jan 23, 2015.

  1. Just received an email saying that I have until tomorrow to take out the additional 3rd year warranty as Ducati have unexpected pulled the program!

What are people's thoughts, is it worth the gamble?

  2. Im sat trying to decide what to do.

  3. I got the same thing. I'm going to pass

  4. Did not spot that other post.. I'm also in two minds, a betting man would not bother but is it worth the risk....

  5. Its 300 quid. I'm prepared to gamble that my 2 year old bike with 5000 miles on it isnt going to have a serious issue

  6. The rear accelerometer sensor failure at 1,000 miles – under warranty on my MTS – cost £600 for the part alone. My clutch slave cylinder also failed - at 5,000 miles - and I'm waiting for an answer on occasional engine cut-outs. At nearly two years old and 13,500 miles, I'm in! It doesn't take much to run up a £300 bill on a Ducati. One problem could cover the cost. More than one and you'd be quids in!

  7. I extended my 848. Never had a problem in 4 years of ownership.

Didn't bother with my monster. That's been fine for 4 years too.

1199 is 6 months old so who knows. Doom could be around the corner but £300 fixes a lot of problems and it's hard to think about 18months time as maybe I've grown some balls and got a 1098R

  8. Hmm, just extended the warranty on mine. Few little niggles so far but nothing major, just want a little piece of mind really.

  9. Independent motorcycle warranties are available elsewhere you know, it does not have to be through Ducati.

  10. not much notice ive heard nothing nor had a letter,

  11. Question is why? Is it because Ducati think their bikes are so reliable that you don't need a 3rd year warranty OR is it because they are missing out on a lot of revenue from the unreliable bikes? I think there will be mixed opinions over the answer.

  12. It's a conspiracy! As soon as it's removed everyone wants it! :Bag:

  13. I'm buyimg, simply because its on pcp and if i have an issue, and Ducati contest it, its easier to pass the problem to the finance co. If no warranty, can still do it but more of a challenge.

Gutting as it may go when the new multi comes out!

  14. What's the cost of a 1199 abs warranty?

  15. Think it's just a standard £300 across the board? Just paid £300 on mine, 1199s, so if it is variable it won't be any more than that I wouldn't have thought.

  17. It's a big chunk of cash. If my bike was reliable for its first 2 years I probably wouldn't bother. Problem is I've only ridden it for about a month until it was put away.

It could be a gem or a pain but who knows at this early stage.

  18. You do still the remainder of the two years though and the P&h email indicates a replacement product may replace it.

  19. Yeh I think I'm gonna leave it. If the bikes a pain, in 18 months I'll deal with it. By that point we'll be on a 1399 no doubt
