1199 Reliability - Can It Really Be This Bad!

  1. As long as you have it still in warranty or extended warranty no probs , customer service excellent .

  2. Gents, I'm not convinced. I agree that the straight fours are boring - tried a few - but wondering if the darn 1199 will start in the morning or actually make the entire journey is a bit rubbish. I had to find a dealership in Carentan, France for goodness sake on a 4 day tour.

Character is one thing, poor engineering is something entirely different. If it's not a 10,000 mile a year UK bike, don't sell it as one!!

  3. its a fair point, but hopefully bad experiences are few and far between.
Agreed every one off the line should be as good as the last.
There is no excuse for lemons.

  4. last night it took me 5 mins to start mine. it was sitting outside work all day in fairly cold weather, so i put it down to that. was shitting meself as defo didn't want to take a bus and leave her for a night there, but she started eventually

  5. 17500 miles, broke down twice

1 electrical issue, water under the seat.
    2 clutch master

    Also had under warranty

    1 new mirror
    2 new clocks
    3 new indicator

Also rear tail light has smashed, Ducati won't replace under warranty, to me it's a bad design. I have extended my warranty. This has been my 3rd Ducati, I do love it, but if you do miles it's expensive to run. 15000 mile service was nearly 1k, this time next year will be change time for me, might look at new r1 or bm.

  6. thats shocking. i wonder if they have even been tested in sub 10 degree weather?
audi will off road them, never mind cold testing.

i couldnt ride it in winter though. would have to have a hacker.

  7. italian bikes just dont do wet do they. i remember my Aprilia AF150, its coli was too close to the frame, in wet weather it shorted to the frame and broke down. Simple mod, but still.

if i have your probs over 17500 miles, i can live with that. but thats the limit!:upyeah:

  8. Rear light Lens prone to stone damage off rear wheel , wear n tear , can't complain about that one.

  9. I have never had any other rear light smash on any bike over last 25 years, so bad design for me.

  12. had mine for a year did 3500 miles on it not a single problem did cut out about 3 times on me at low revs apparently they all do this and missed a gear odd now and again due to quick shifter not being the best at low revs abused fuck out of it even wrote it off cant fault it for reliability was bang on jobs a fish

  19. its nice when you win. Normally the insurance companies win. Be careful with your public statements. The powers that be have been known to trawl forums, especially if you use you real name. :upyeah:
