1200 Extended Warranty To End

Discussion in 'Multistrada' started by Twin4me, Jan 22, 2015.

  1. I had a few issues getting the extended warranty when I bought it as I wasn't the original owner, but as the dealer had told me I could extend it when I bought the bike Ducati honoured it. I'm glad I did as I certainly got my money's worth from the A!

  2. Just to clarify this was when I bought a couple of years ago

  3. Not true I purchased the extended warranty at 10 months.

  4. All I got was an invoice from Snell.
I did ask and was told that it shows on the system.

  5. I thought you had up to 18 mths to extend the warranty, but having said that you ain't got no time to extend the warranty now :(

  6. Popped down to my local dealer yesterday, Riders of Cardiff and discussed extending my warranty even though my bike is 6mths old from new! There was no issue I could have had the extended warranty added however after discussing what is happening it seems that there will b a replacement warranty extension product coming out in February, dealers are even waiting for the new product as opposed to opting for the current, advised that it will be no worse than current but maybe better!
Top service and advice from guys at dealership in Cardiff
Hope this puts peeps at ease :)

  7. Kevlar, Riders in Cardiff didn't know anything about this until I asked them about it on Thursday and Steve had to make enquiries to find out about it.

  8. If it shows on the system, it is really easy for them to print you off a copy of what shows - just for your peace of mind. That's what I got.

  9. The problem is that the new version warranty will only be available when you buy a new bike as they cannot sell it afterwards which is why the current version is stopping

  10. Did he also advise you of the new product coming out in February and that it would be no worse than the current one but could be better! At the end of the day I will have the option to extend if I wanted

  11. So the above isn't true, or is it?

  12. I'm assuming that I will have the option as I bought the bike new 6mths ago when the option of warranty extension was explained during the sale. Saturday I was advised that it was probably best to wait for new product as I still have 18mths remaining on the current warranty.
When you look at it i don't think ducati would want to refuse a customer this option as it will only cause damage to their business in the form of bad publicity and customer service not to mention showing that they have no faith in the products they are manufacturing and selling, would you refuse it if you wanted repeat business from your customers

  13. Kevlar, when I asked him whether I should wait or not, he declined to give me an answer but did say, that he thought Ducati wouldn't bring out a worse product but couldn't be sure.
I didn't think of asking him about what Bold has mentioned, so not sure on that one, but I can see why they couldn't offer the two types side by side. But on the other hand I don't know why there's such a gap between the old one being stopped and the new one starting.

  14. I was told that them as a dealer have 2yr old bikes in stock which they will wait for new product as opposed to putting current one on

  15. Assuming the warranty is stopping because of insurance reselling (as indicated in this thread) then they will now have to operate the warranty internally. I guess if they were rectifying the reselling then they would have done so and continued to operate the warranty in its current state. If so, and they cannot offset the warranty costs now, maybe the product will benefit with a three year part quality design brief.

  16. I heard it is stopping for a time then being reintroduced, under what terms I do not know.

  17. Tbh,the original 3rd year warranty was pretty good, never heard of any problems about 3rd year claims,so the only way they could improve on it would be to offer a 4th year extension or include breakdown cover.

  18. Not correct. I tried to buy the extended warranty when the bike was 20 months old and was told that I'd missed some arbitrary deadline that I hadn't been told about at 18 months. Cnuts. Combine that sort of corporatist behaviour with the appalling level of finish on current Ducatis and I'm seriously considering my future options, after owning nowt but Ducatis since 1984.

  20. I agree, it was changed last year.
