  1. Ha..... Lol.

  2. yep i agree match stuff up...........and with the con rods weighed end for end....

you still haven't given us an insight into what you are trying to achieve with this monster 796...

  3. A well balanced shiny one!
Drrr can't you see that :)

  4. "what you are trying to achieve... "

Trying is not a word I particularly like...On it's own it's unbalanced, singular, a loner.. An attempt..

I much prefer "shall succeed "..

"End for end" it's so much more a statement of intent, total dedication, a means to an end, two words which, when together, like a twin, make for so much more harmony, destiny, balance...

Much like a Winnie Churchill "V for victory salute" "we shall defeat them, etc etc.... " no ifs, no maybes, no possibly ..

    We shall... Absolutely without doubt!

50 yrs to the day when this great man passed away.. He didn't "try" he succeeded..

Yes, I prefer that, muchly so, so I does.. X

  7. I know what youre asking Andy, but at the end of the day does it matter? Its there,if nothing more,as an exercise. To see what effect this work has on the engine and its behavior/performance.Would I go through all this? No,probably not.I am ,however, interested in the result.

  8. I Look forward to the next episodes of this.
I do wonder beyond what point of "smoothness" on the crank surface there ceases to be any dynamic advantage, but I totally understand you wanting it to be just a "perfect" on the inside as the outside. More power to your pistons mate :upyeah:

  9. I admire your spirit Noods - there is no law against what you are doing and it's not harming anyone else so more power to your elbow :upyeah:

  10. Do what you want to do, I did this years ago with chasing 200 bhp with a 1700cc ford x-flow, total waste of time and money people said, they were right but I carried on and spent close to 8 grand and got 197 bhp from said unit. Still to this day I am glad I did it, kind of a personal achievement.:upyeah:

  11. To get a true standard when measuring engine components, they should be marked up and left to "soak" in a temperature controlled room at 20 deg.C for 24 hours. Then all data collated from all components, to work out best sizes for clearance/ matched sizes etc.

Not many sample inspection areas or engine build places have that facility. Usually just relying on any old temp in an open building with some calipers from Aldi.

  12. I would have thought shot peening the rods were a better option, than just polishing.

  13. i would of though an 1100 was a better option, than just 800......20% increase without one bit of 1200 grit......
