Hi I've joined the forum after ordering my first NEW Ducati since 1980. I know I'm going to get stick off the "real" Ducati owners but I have just tested and subsequently ordered a new Scrambler. Yes shock horror and I'm not a hipster or a girl (not last time I looked anyway). I love how all the "modern" bike owners judge bikes on colour, shape of the swing arm, seat height, being too light (yes really) and dismiss it without even going for a ride. By the way I live in France and the Scrambler is £500 cheaper at the current exchange rate here than in the UK. I tested the bike this week, Wednesday actually and the weather was just great. It has gone a bit downhill since mind. I might have to sell a bike to make room for the new Ducati, we'll see!!! Max
welcome and bonjour ! The scrambler gets a decent review from the Telegraph, and it should be fine as long as it's left hand drive, measures speed in kph, and has a beam deflector on the headlight. Ducati Scrambler review - Telegraph
It's OK as long as it's "RED", Italian, quirky, irritating as hell to fix, has loads of warranty recalls and above all, YOU love owning it and riding it now and again. At least that's what I've been told. Hi and welcome to the retirement home.....
Welcome Jerrycan. Enjoy the new bike in addition to your Hailwood Replica. Whereabouts in France are you? Who is your Ducati dealer?
Yes I'm amazed at how judgemental Bikers in particular can be. Some seem not content to say they don't like a particular bike but then go on to say anybody that does like/buy that bike must be a girl/hipster/hairdresser/plastic biker etc delete as necessary! I won't mention the other bikes I have in case the judgement pendulum swings back to me being a girl/hipster etc etc. Who would have thought that an activity (motorbike riding) which is looked upon as one of the last real freedom's in this over-regulated world attracts so many narrow minded folks. There Sunday Politics for you!!!
I fear it can only get worse but here goes Cagiva Raptor (girls bike) Triumph Speed Triple (big girls bike) KTM 350 Freeride (proper girls bike) Suzuki SV1000 (plastic biker's bike) and I have the Hailwood Rep in the previous picture, probably the only proper bike I've got but I guess from the wrong era to save me from Judgement!!!
Welcome to the forum....everyone likes their own style. The scrambler: not for me....not ever in a million years..but im not you and you arent me so enjoy your bike, i mean that in best possible way.... Im just finishing a 10 year old ktm supermoto conversion which i think is the best looking bike ever! But i expect alot wont like it but thats my point. Enjoy.
