Hiya chums, does anyone know of cheep and cheerful digs near Jerez circuit? I know the prices spiral on these weekends but am thinking of treating my mate for his birthday. I'd really like to hear from anyone whos made the trip in recent years, especially those who booked direct ie not a package deal. Also travelling to the circuit on race day,as I don't own or have access to a helicopter, is it the same mayhem/ traffic jam scenario like Silverstone etc? Regards, boski.
Hi boski. I will be riding to Jerez gp from San Pedro on all 3 days. This will be my 4th year there. 999 in van from Kettering on 25th April and 2 weeks in the sun. Very easy to get in, hard finding your bike after the meeting with about 30,000 other bikes in the park. Quickest way E15 San Roque A381 Jerez. Coming back Villamartin Algodonales Ronda San Pedro. A road made for Ducati's. Bazz
Agree. Anywhere close to Jerez / Cadiz gets booked up well in advance and for stupid money. You could try Malaga (province) as stated above or even Granada. (Even better roads around there's). Seville is only an hour's ride away from the circuit. The traffic over the weekend is mental but manageable. I've been going there every year for the last 10 / 12 years and love it. Might be able to help you out with accommodation if you're interested in staying in Mijas Costa, (málaga).
Thanks for the input. Searched for accom far and wide, all sold out for those dates probably by firms that do package deals. Finally found a hostal in Lebrija about 30 mins to the north of the circuit for 100 euro, so tickets and accom now sorted. Bettes, I actually live in Mijas Pueblo but prefer staying a bit nearer, cheers. Bazzer, I know that road through Ronda really well and totally agree with you. Guardia Civil can be a bit of a nuisance though as theres a 60 Kph limit most of the way from Ronda to S P. Also they are installing average speed cams near Ronda (both ways). I am in Ronda next week and will have a lookout and keep you posted. Adios!
Lebrija's a good choice. Not far at all and plenty of good bars. Make sure you find time to watch the sun set there! Best place in the world to watch it according to Spielberg!
Getting in easy, getting out easy except on race day. Thousands of bikes heading out at the same time of course. You'll manage it. Just stay away from the local halfwits revving the shit out of their cold 4 cylinder soon to seize Jap bikes. I'll check out the name of the place we stayed at and get back to you. It is race weekend and it overlaps with a big horse dressage event so nothing will be that cheap. Be careful to buy your tickets from the 'real' circuit site.
Doh, just seen you've found accommodation. Apparently it's a great ride back in the Malaga direction. Roadsides and bridges lined with locals just wanting to watch the bikes go by. Stopping for coffee en route and just watching is a great part of the event.
