Has anyone experienced any hesitation on fueling. Set off to work this morning and the bike started hesitating almost immediately making it virtually un rideable. Only way I can describe it is how carb icing feels. The bike was low in fuel with two bars showing and light on yellow so thought maybe it was fuel so filled up and the hesitating continued next few miles to work. On the way home the bike felt fine again so confused as to what could have caused the hesitation this morning and if it's anything to worry about.
Thanks for quick reply. Where would I find it and would it be a case of wd40 ing it fits seized up. Why would been have run fine on way home though.
It may be a Ducati but it's also very expensive I don't really accept that it shouldn't work and be reliable. I Know where the exhaust valve is now but could someone just advise how to free if it up. Is it a case of manually moving it or as above some wd40 or grease? Thanks. Think the valve is certainly something worth checking first
More than likely the exvl exhaust valve has already been mentioned. It had probably freed off a little with the ride into work and the heat generated to not give the fault later in the day for your ride back home
Free it off with WD 40 and lube it again with some heat proof grease, brake grease will probably work ok Or better still remove the dam thing altogether!!!
Thanks boomer. Heat freeing it up makes sense.will copper grease or lithium grease be ok for greasing it? It's under warranty so can't really remove it
Yeah copper grease will be fine, if it's still under warranty I think this is what your dealer would do for you, if you don't want to get involved, but it's a quick job, and one I would try 1st if I was you (saves booking in with dealer)
Thanks mate. Like I say was faultless on way home. Would they replace it if it excessively corroded? I need to take the termi off next week as a piece of the metal strap is loose so will give valve a clean,
It's assemble is part of the catalytic converter, I have heard on this forum of a few dealers replacing the cat under warranty to cure the problem
Ok I'll see if it continues. It's not done it before so may just be a one off once cleaned. Plus will be looking at trading in end of summer anyway as its on Pcp and had it for two years
I agree mate it should work ,but ducati seem to get away with all sorts of problems by calling it character,
Indeed. Only my second Ducati and hoped that the Audi input would improve build quality and customer care. That said had no real issues with my 999s but it was barely used and when traded in I think it had only done 3000 miles possibly less on a 2003 bike and customer service from dealer has been good and not so good from the one I purchased it from,
Yep it is under warranty so if it's just the valve needs a clean and grease I've no issues doing it myself. I suspect not been done during services as a recall wasn't done either and not sure if chain has been adjusted
Given the valve a good clean other day and greased it and has been fine last few days but gave the bike I quick spray with hose pipe to run salt off the bike and went out and started hesitating again.but after a few miles was fine again. Has anyone got any other suggestions or would you just take it to dealer and let them sort it which is what im likely going to do.
I will be. Just a bit of a faff with work commitments but it's under warranty so it's ducatis problem
