She gets a ride for this Year with Honda racing UK Glad she has had the support from Honda, we need more like minded women in motorsport
JT is a very talented lady and I can't wait to see what she can do on a factory bike. Mike 'Spike' Edwards put this video of her on Trackday Riders a couple of years ago.
I often have this discussion with myself - there are very few top level sports where men and women compete together - one of the few where the playing field seems level is some of the equestrian sports (much less so racing) Beach volleyball one of the few sports than men will watch over the 'male' version Not many in here would be interested in Moto GP for women - It's good to see Jenny competing on a factory bike and I'm sure she'll hold her own
The rides and drives in motor sport have never been and never will be strictly meritocratic, because of the money involved. It's a business. We all know, at it most extreme, about pay riders and drivers who have to bring money for a seat, either through private wealth or sponsorship. At the other end are the guys [sic] who are so good their services are in high demand. In the middle are a lot of very talented people whose fortunes are going to be determined by market calculations - Dorna subsidise certain riders (and pull the plug on others) in MotoGP in order to have certain markets represented, Repsol like a Spanish rider etc. There are male riders who would go quicker than Tinmouth on the same bike, but manufacturers are in the sport to sell bikes and to achieve publicity for their sponsors, and they've obviously calculated that putting her on that third bike will do more in those terms than a mid-pack bloke. And if longer-term that encourages female participation in an anachronistically male-dominated sport/paddock then that's fine by me. It certainly can't be regarded as a gimmick, given her track and IoM pedigree. I hope it goes well.
Mm. Must admit my first thoughts were that the boys in BSB are a lot quicker than Mike Edwards , He is after all on the wrong side of 50 , so I would say that there will be plenty of 20+ year old that would be quicker on that factory bike. I'd be surprised if she got a top ten to be honest. But she's also faster than a lot others that will be in the same championship.
Ye, Kinda what I was meaning, she's would make Group B on a fast track day there. Must be a reason for it I guess
