Hi All! Thought it might be worth sticking my head around the door, been the happy owner of a Hypermotard 821 for just over a year now. Not my only bike, as I have a strange mix of tastes, but only one that works! Be great to meet up with anyone in the local area, (or not so local).
Welcome. Darset is quite big, whereabouts ? I usually get down to Poole bike night a few times during the summer and West Bay a couple of times a year.
Hi My family are in Bournemouth & Weymouth (I'm just North of London) so will be heading down when the sun arrives. @Gimlet is a Blandford lad.
Hello and welcome spr0ut. I'm just west of Blandford. I get to Poole occasionally but a pound a bike to get in has put me off. The bikes attract a huge amount of tourists to the pubs along the quay in the summer. They should be paying us. Always looking for more meets out that way. Or Salisbury. That's a nice blast on a summer evening.
Born in Blandford Camp a long time ago. Only stayed a year, but will probably never even visit the UK again in my life.
Welcome Often take a bimble down to West Bay of a Sunday, lived in Shaftesbury for a time Great county
Thanks for the welcome all! Worth keeping my eye on the rideout threads for local stuff then? Heh, other bikes are old Hondas desperate for restoration..so far the Ducati hasn't given me any problems at all..so far
Welcome ! I once holidayed in Poole, and took a large shell home from the beach. What's amazing, is that if you hold it to your right ear, you can still hear the wife nagging through your left ear
I once visited Poole when you would most want to, from a force 8 gale out to sea in my bosses yacht while attempting to head to France - good to get in to the harbour in one piece :Wideyed:
Oof, that sounds fun! Do you still sail? Or was that traumatic enough to force you to a life of land lubbery?
It was my first and only trip and I thought it was fab, well exciting when the side windows were under the sea. My boss and his old sailor mate had 60 years experience between them and were terrified (probably more due to it being their craft) - said it was their worst weather ever - we hit the storm with the spinnaker out too which was fun, they couldn't understand why I enjoyed it so much - naivety on my part probably
