Designed this for a Japanese University, which is ironic because I never went to university. It bolts to a vacuum chamber and goes up and down and round and round and heats a 2 inch disc to 1200 centigrade. Even uneducated British engineers are in demand ;-) but not by British Universities or companies, this is worrying because 90% of what I design is used for R&D, says a lot about our future:-(
Today I decided to commute on my bike, as I am going completely crazy having to drive the car all the time. I am literally losing it when I drive to and from work at the moment. Controlling my road rage and aggressive responses to other road users is getting harder and harder. Is it me or has this winter lasted over a year now? So, I started up the 750 this morning, which it was happy to do as it's a friendly little bike and doesn't fear the cold. Long story short, the fast idle cable was snarled up somewhere which meant that turning the bars to the left was the same as the throttle being given all the berries. This is not a good thing. Jumped over to my 999 - which just laughed at me. Down below 4C deg, the 999 will not deign to start. It will turn over until the battery dies but it won't run. Get up to 5C or 6C deg, it'll do it - but no colder than that. Sorry but no chance. So I was back in the car, and late because of the failed attempts to ride a bike to work. Imagine my profound delight. Tonight I have fixed the fast idle on the 750. I also successfully started the 999 as a matter of principle. I will ride my bike to work tomorrow. Oh yes, I will ride a bike. To work. (Don't you fucking ice up on me, tomorrow!)
This morning I got up at 4.30am. Left the house at 5am and drove down to Longleat for a meeting. Got there at 11am. Had meeting. Left at 1.30pm and drove to Gloucester for another meeting. I'm now on my way home but I've stopped for a coffee. Still got over an hour to go before I get home
Chill out with tunes. This is the answer. Or alternatively a good radio programme. I find that with the right sounds, I don't really get annoyed with people much and I drive more slowly. If I'm enjoying the entertainment, I'm not even in any real hurry to arrive.
My car has its very own iPod. What it really needs though is a proper speaker system. The problem isn't really with the car - I actually enjoy driving, especially since I installed the widget that let's me play my iPod through the sound system ... no, the problem is I haven't ridden a bike in two months and I'm getting very cranky. It's affecting my happy thoughts
Cheaper option, strap a bit of bristle matting to Cley Hill-just outside the entrance to Longleat.... That lump on the left as you drive past the roundabouts at the entrance. Anyway, there is one at Churchill.
well had a lovely day overhauling the brakes on my car had to replace discs and pads all round oh the joy oh well all done for the mot
Went into the Pound Bakery today for some lunch. There was a sign behind the counter saying "We do not accept £50 notes. I thought "Christ, if I had a £50 note, I wouldn't be buying my lunch in here"
I read somewhere that 59 is too old to still be living with your parents. It was on a note, in my bedroom.
