unfortunately you cant get a deposit before you start and more often than not work for a few weeks before seeing a penny (unless working for established clients) and go on good faith that we will get paid...in fact a lot of guys put the materials on there trade accounts exposing them selves even further to being fuct over.. That bald headed Dom (what ever his name is) doesn't tell this side on cowboy traders... every builder i know gets messed around by time wasters like this over and over and most lose thousands every year to none/late payers.. waddayagunnado? battering em senseless gets you arrested and even more out of pocket... there are ways of gettin even though... this chap is going to get a lot of call outs to turf laying jobs that dont pan out

obviously when he phones you accept the job but phone in on the day and cancel till the end of the week for as long as you can keep it going.
That is pretty funny! Yes, you'd pretend that all was hunky dory, but would in fact have no intention of ever doing the job. You'd take on other work and postpone this job continually by saying at the last minute, "Something's come up. Sorry about that, I'll be right back to you. Well, it's the building trade, innit?" This would be very amusing.
