Going From Stock Headers To Straight Through.

  1. Gents.

As above....just wondered if anyone has had the same scenario as this....

Had mine over a year ago....it came with the twin termi and the cat in....

Got the decat and then had it dyno'd....best thing ever....

So, now ill be changing the front headers and decat to a straight through mivv system keeping the termis. As its been dynod already i know ill need to get it done again at some point but not too important right now....just wondered if anyone has gone through the same sort of changes? And more to the point was there a difference in performance? Or just noisier?

  2. IMG_20150203_195741.jpg Bit of an addidtion.....first and foremost the series 1 headers fit the evo. The link pipe mount point is about a half inch off so ive redrilled it....apart from that straight on....the reason i can see that it fits is that as suspected mines had the o2 sensors delete....if they were in theyd foul the lower engine...just the lower pipe only. Ill upload some pics when i get my camera on my phone working....and finally....

    Fuck me...what a noise. Lovely.

oh...the other thing...the new headers are about 20% larger bore....rough guess though...

  4. Oh yeah - decat now for sale if anyone wants it!

  5. Id just like to say that the first pic the collector is really tight going into the vertical pipe....going to get a rubber mallet on it tonight to see if I can get it to seat in there a bit better...

  6. Pipes were similarly tight on my single termi - I just ran the bike as was and after a few days it had worked its way in with the vibration....

  7. Yeah - problem is, is I aint gonna get out on it til at least next week....wife away all weekend so ive got the kids and im taking a lad to work at the moment so im in the car....pisser....ill just go in the garage later on and start it for the hell of it... :)

  8. Hi Andy

I think once you get the collector pipe to slide into the link pipe the original hole might work.

you might need to expand the link pipe a little.

I bought a set of pipe expanders from eBay (collet arrangement with a large bolt in the middle)
as you tighten bolt collets expand up ramps. if that makes sense ????

  9. Used a wooden mallet to tap it up a little bit more....gonna run it for a week and then once its settled give it another tap-tap-taparoo....

Open question: obviously mines already been dyno'd im guessing itll be alright for the moment (for another month) until I get it done again...? what say you lot??

  10. Personally I can't see as it will cause any issues - you'd have to make some pretty wild mods to throw the mixture etc out bad enough to cause issues

  11. Yeah. That was my thought....gonna go down bath Rd motorcycles later...BMW s1000rr demo....so I'll see what its like then....

  12. Very nice indeed! Think I may do some demos this year - not that I'm buying or losing the hyper - just a case of why not. I'm heading to the classic bike show down in shit and smell it this morning

  13. Nah. Not me either. Hyper is staying with me....only thing I'd get rid of it for is a sf1100s....happy with my rsv4 as a sports bike...a s1000rr would cost me another 7k...I don't have another 7k's worth of skill in me!

  14. You have 1 rusty link on your chain, please clean and report back :D

  15. Well...someone had to spot it...!

  16. Done yet? Stop bitchin and get on with it :Finger:

  17. I would but I'm at the local pool....my little one has a swimming lesson...and have endure some moaning kid next to me who doesn't want to go in the pool for her lesson...I'll check back in later...

  18. I had a 1098 sf comfy , good bike way more power than the hyper , but would say the hyper is a more fun bike ... more suited for the back lanes , whereas the sf likes more flowing roads , the suspension is more sports bike like , there a good bike though , horses for courses and all that , how's the 525 coming along .... Not seen much of you over the road at the nut house hehe

  19. Ha - well, this is the thing.....before I had the ktm I had the rsv4 and the hyper, perfect....but now ive managed to hold on to the KTM the hyper is a bigger version so, the sf is the natural bit of my perfect garage....ie rsv4 (sports) SF (naked) 525 (SM) the three different types of bikes that I love....

Re the ktm - its gone a bit quiet as due to shitty timing my mate (the electrical engineer) has been working offsite up in Scotland for the last month, he got back Thursday, and is coming over after work on Monday night to make a start wiring it up. Ive been out there this afternoon drilling the handlebars getting all the switchgear in place, but can fit anything solidly as its gotta be wired, soldered and heatshrinked. Im probably going to incur the wrath of the ktm forum but im fitting heated grips to it as well....im a convert and some of its use will be in the winter.

So, hopefully by the end of this week I should be on the home straight...

  20. Oh - and id just like to say I went out this afternoon for a quick and what can I say....fuck me, it fucking pulls now...! I didn't think the sound could get any deeper but It has....for anyone that's had theirs on the dyno then these pipes will fit as the lower o2 wont go in but that doesn't matter as most dyno tuners will delete the o2 sensors anyway....

Gonna have another crack on it tomorrow...but quite limited as ive got all of my kids this weekend as the wifey is away...
