I'm not immune to marketing, by any stretch of the imagination. And I'm with you - I appreciate a well marketed product. As for Coca Cola: there are a few times every year when a Coke really hits the spot. An ice-cold Coke on a hot day, after a few hours gardening mainly. But how much do I drink a year? A couple of litres perhaps? Months go by without a Coke - most of the year in fact. And I don't care if it's Pepsi, or some other variant. We buy Ducatis for the feel - which you don't get with a faster, more reliable Jap bike. The feel is indefinable, but when you experience it, you recognise it. I am also keen on the fact that Ducatis are less common. If everyones zigs, I tend to zag. I'm just contrary that way.
I spoke to my business partner on the phone today (for about 2 hours - long meeting). I told him that I had seen a bullfinch in my garden. Not only did he not know what a bullfinch was (bad), but he really had not conception of what I was talking about. It was as if I was relating experiences to do with some mystic revelation on the banks of the Ganges. I find it quite hard to collaborate on a project with someone who thinks I'm an alien with eyes on stalks. Shared values? I don't think so. Pity.
Fitted race headers on wednesday. Fuckme sidesways on saturday, does it pull or does it pull....already had it dyno'd but i cant wait to get it done again to really liven it up.
I gave my wife some sexy lingerie today, and she actually got mad at me. She said, "Ron, I think this is more of a gift for you than it is for me." I said, "Well, if you really want to get technical, it was originally a gift for my first wife" You can't please some people....
I also value something different, I guess that's why the Benelli appealed so much. If it were a numbers game we would all be riding R1's
I also have a CBR600 - the epitome of a 'numbers game' bike. The CBR, Ducati and Benelli should give me a bike for every occasion. (As long as the occasion happens on a warm sunny day)
Dug a trench on side #2. Dug out two stumps. Trying to decide if I can summon the strength for the other 2.
Not sure. The sides I dug this morning needs boards to hold the dirt back to stop it filling again. Was thinking of leaving it as a trench for a few good downpours so I can see how badly it fills. I expect I will run gutters round the two sides I have dug so far long term. Luckily I get on well with the neighbours so they are happy for me to take their fence up and down as long as I put it back.
I found this in the dirt outside. Maybe they thought the damp would be fixed with a vent. 2 out, 2 to go....... I should be on the bike, it's a lovely day.
Took the young one to his 1st football match since Xmas and... Cancelled due to a frozen pitch. The bastards left it right til the last minute. Kids on the pitch all ready, parents on the side lines. Not good! Sneaked off to the gym, taking all the family out for Sunday lunch then off to do some work on the bike at work. All the race bikes have been shipped off to Cartagena for testing so have the workplace all to myself. Get in there!
