So that's where I have been going wrong - did wonder why sitting on the tank was so hard to reach the pegs - I meant - over the std seat - race seat - touring seat etc -
As you say, it's been written about at length before. Why don't you just do the reasearch, rather than ask someone to type it all out again? The answer hasnt changed.

Interesting psychology to take the time to be a d1ck rather than help someone (on a chat forum) or post a link to previous threads. Nice community spirit.
Jamie thanks for that it's nice to know some one was also. Thinking it My reason for a new thread is there is a lot of new members and owners on here and it's nice to reignite some old topics for us new ones
I have the my14 1199 seat which is same as 899 seat. I found it nice and grippy but wanted a bit more comfort. I looked at the race seat but it seemed quite hard and didn't avtually look as nice as the comfort version. Went with comfort in the end which looks nice but I haven't ridden bike yet with it on. My worry is that its gonna make me feel "on " the bike rather than "in". Feels good though just sat in garage making 'vroom vroom ' noises. Also if you are short it adds more height if that's something u need to consider. I'm 6ft ish and it's fine for me.
You get a lot of that on here mate. Don't be put off because there are some decent and genuine people on here only too willing to help you. Unfortunately, there'll always be some smug c@nt out there who obviously gets bullied at home or at work and this is their way of trying to be something they're not. Try and look at it like you're helping them out because they've probably got no real friends. In answer to your question, the comfort seat is the best in my opinion. Your'e a bit higher in the saddle but it's better on the cheeks!
I have fitted the comfy seat on the 1199, my opinion is that the 899 seat was more comfortable, and yes I had the 899 did 7,000 miles on it.
Hi zx6ghost, If that was your intention, then I'm sorry for what I wrote. I do think that if your intention was to re-ignite the topic, then putting down some of your own thinking to lead the conversation would have been useful for everyone. My response was clearly on the blunt side though. When I was doing the research, I concluded that more folk gave the race seat a nod compared to the comfort seat, both for fast riding and for comfort over longer rides. I went with the race seat. However, I think that's probably more personal preference than anything else; the key point being that both the race and comfort seat are a significant improvement over stock when it comes to comfort. Rgds, Ian
Hi Ian Thanks for your reply, I am also now looking at the race seat and will be purchasing one soon as with all threads, at times they can be misleading, my fault as I was writing the this thread on the way into work on my phone and yes it was short and sweet and I should of made it clearer anyway safe riding and thanks for the input S
I found the standard seat very slippy. Bought the race seat, had it for around 3,500 miles and it's great for weekend blasts and works well with my rizoma rearsets, but starts to be a pain in the ar*e, literally, after a few hours. I wear padded cycling shorts which helps but I've ordered the comfort seat coz doing a trip to the Black Forest in the summer. So IMHO if you want to sit higher up and more on top of the bike then the race seat is fine. See Pic for height difference from standard, and the padding is stiff. It's good for track days and weekends. If you want comfort then it's the comfort seat. Guess that's why Ducati brand them as race seat and comfort seat !!!!!!!
