Termignoni 2-2 Or 2-1

Discussion in 'Hypermotard' started by CamBJones, Feb 15, 2015.

  1. I'm picking up a Hyper in March and it's currently got stock cans.

I love sports pipes both for the sounds but also because it makes me feel safer when I know people can hear me coming.

So I'm looking at some Termignoni and I see you can get 2 into 2s or 2 into 1s. Is there any benefit to either? Also what is the difference between getting just the slipons as apposed to a full system?

I guess last question.. is Termignoni the best.. or should I shop/listen around?

I used to own a 750SS back in Australia 1996 to 1999 and I had Staintunes (Aussie Brand) and it sounded amazing but I think I should prepare myself for a lesser sound with a water cooled bike???

    Thanks in advanced.

  2. Hello. Whatever the difference 2:1 vs 2:2 is more likely to be swung on looks. 2:1 is a touch lighter and according to my misses her ass doesn't get as hot. The indicators are also relocated. I know the full 2:1 comes with a new ecu and air box lid and guess slipons don't and no doubt you'll pay dear for these 'extras'. Difficult to say what's the best - I've a termi and I've no complaints whatsoever.

  3. Thanks BF. I'll shop around. Where did you get yours from. Seems the cheapest is a guy in Italy via eBay but I always worry about quality through eBay.

  4. I bought mine secondhand of fleebay and all worked out well. Watch out for the fact there are 2 types of ignition module depending on year - a red one and a silver one with fins on it, which I think is the Siemens one - you can whip off the corner panel by the tank and check to be sure.

  5. I prefer the look of the underseat exhaust but found them all too long so I just chopped mine (there's a thread on it somewhere).
There are a few options for the ecu to make sure it's not too lean. I had a dp race ecu off eBay fitted some O2 eliminators and drilled the airbox (same as fitting a dp lid).
Bike sounds fantastic and pulls like a train (even though it's the baby 796)

  6. Thanks for the replies.

Do you need a new ecu even with slipons or is it only with full system with headers.

Is it a lot better to get the headers as well or do the slipons get you most of the way there?

I've not heard of SC Project but they have a 2 into 2 system that looks pretty cool. Ducati Hypermotard 796 Full system 2-2 with GP-EVO silencers and carbon side fairings by SC Project

I'm sure there's a full thread on here debating exhaust systems. I've always just thought Termis were the ultimate Duc exhaust but I'm sure the others are great too, maybe even better??

  7. The sc project 2-2 is lovely but would have to have something done to stop it running lean.
The lv decat on the 796 is from cylinders back but the 1100 retains the headers and literally just gets rid of the cat. Lovely sound with decat and I'd probably do that first.
I ran mine with the normal ecu for about a year and was ok but probably too lean. They sell a ecu with just the slipper on termi too. A dp ecu came up for sale cheap and I bought it. Pulls much better and although the throttle wasn't too bad anyway it has made it smoother.
It's currently in having a full valve and belts service so looking forward to getting it back.

  8. Thanks for that. Yep I like the look of that 2-2 SC Project and it looks like they also sell an 'Air Fuel Modifier' which I guess is a DIY partial remap. I assume you plug it in and just change the air/fuel mixture. SC-Project Advanced Exhaust Technology - HYPERMOTARD 796 - Centralina elettronica aggiuntiva AFM

Would you recommend decating first before even changing the pipes over? Then pipes, then ecu and possible remap. Feels like I'll have to budget £1,500 for this at a min + remap if I go down that path although ecu change should negate the need for a remap?

Thanks again in advance and sorry for all the questions.

  9. Doesn't matter if its full system or just slip on cans from Termi you will get ECU and an air filter.
Well I am not to sure about ECU on newer bikes, they have seemed to have gone down the route of reprogrammable chip on some bikes so you get an up map which they load, there is a slight difference in the up maps depending on whether its a full system or cans only.
My personal opinion is that the generic maps are ok but really to get full benefit get the bike on dyno and have a bespoke map done, then it is specific to your bike.

  10. Thanks for that. Ok setting my expectations correctly then. I'll plan to get exhaust (either full or slipons) plus ecu plus air filter (or DIY that) and then maybe one day a remap.

Then it is just a question of which one.

Does the full system usually mean it removes the cat? Ie I either get Termi slipons and then also the LV decat... Or the SC Project 2-2 but then don't have to decat?

  11. Oh and just to add a bit more, there are a few others that make exhausts that might be worth looking at.
I have Termis on an 1199, also had them on my 848 & 899, for what you pay the quality is not brilliant but they do sound nice and certainly do what it says on the tin.
I had 848 had slip ons only fitted didnt notice any difference, When I bought my 848 evo I rode it for a year stock then had full system fitted and boy I noticed a big difference.

Termi's from a dealer will always come with ECU (if needed older models) and air filter, other manufacturers will only supply cans.

I have an 848 Street fighter and I didnt want to pay the 1200 quid for Termi cans so I bought Arrows a third of the cost new sound really nice, I am going to get a by cylinder map done on it in spring prob at Moto Rapido that will be a bespoke map to that bike :)

  12. Thanks CS and Yep I'll have to shop around a bit as I suspect you pay a premium for the Termi brand. It's for a (to be purchase) 2011 HyperM.

There are a few to compare.

  13. Well
    1100 or 796?

  14. Ah yeah that would help. 796

  15. Have a look here, I got my arrows from this place.
Please note only termi's come supplied with ECU when buying from a dealer all other makers you will either have to source a new ECU or get yours remapped.
For my 848 streetfighter cans plus dyno still comes in cheaper than buying Termi' cans

  17. Penny dropped did it, there are a few funny ones on here like that.

  18. There is one on here called "comesunt" lol Oh just looked at the site I posted a link to for you
MIVV down pipes/manifold is now only £250 and the can that goes with it is £404
If you factor £500 quid for remap of ECU its still cheaper than buying full system Termi's and you only get a generic map ECU.

  19. Yep I'm starting to see a theme ;)

The MIVV seems like a very affordable option. Now I'm off to YouTube to sample their sound. It's not really the look I'm going for but that's not to say they are ugly. My favourite is probably the SCs but I'd need to add an ecu or remap on top of that price. Gets expensive but I'm sure if I apply some man logic I can make it happen. Thanks for the help.
