Hi all Just signed in today. I'm just taking my time to look around first! Just swapped a 2013 Trophy SE for a 2012 Multistrada ABS due to arrive next Friday - I'm trying to establish its exact spec. It was first registered 15/11/2012 - I have the chassis/VIN numbers - can I check anywhere on here? It has Marzocchi forks/Sachs rear which I don't think is the "Skyhook" version is it? However, it was the suspension that was amazing on my test rides - really distinctly smooth and very little nose dive under braking. Rear brake was a bit rubbish though - just reading about this persistent issue!
Hi Rob and welcome! Good choice. I had a few Hinkley Triumphs before my Mutley and not regretted the change since. I have the 2012 Ohlins fork S model and I was under the impression that Skyhook bikes didn't come in until 2013. Might be wrong but if you've got a manual adjuster for the rear suspension then it won't be a Skyhook. Rear brake is rubbish. A search of the forum will bring up loads of threads on this subject. Most of the really serious problems evident on earlier 2010 bikes had been sorted by the 2012 models. However, there are still some persistent issues even now eg the exhaust valve. Again, a good browse around the forum and you'll soon pick up the persistent problems and how to deal with them. Careful you don't let the forum get you paranoid about the perceived unreliability of the Multistrada. It's a brilliant bike!
2012 should be either ohlins, or manual. Sky hook was introduced 2013. sounds like you have a normal mts 1200 abs, not an S. If there are no wires coming out the top of the fork legs then they are manual adjust (Still pretty good, so not a big deal) Hope you enjoy it ☺
Hi guy's, Brand new to Duc's. most of my mates said steer clear (lol) hope they are wrong. I'm picking up a 2013 not skyhook MTS twin spark, abs tomorrow. hoping it matches the looks with a great ride and reliability. Will be looking through forum for subbtle upgrades. Cytec is by me and make bespoke exhaust systems. So will be checking them out too.
