I never got personal just 'MY' opinion . Your seem the grumpy little man if im honest but we can agree to disagree. Being an internet warrior is all great behind a screen isnt it Stop trying to justify the fact you couldnt afford the proper bike with silly quotes about character and alternative choice.
The reality is, I could afford whichever I wanted, I always liked the 748, and as you can tell, it's my preferred bike regardless of the others in my garage. The litre bike choice is very freudian. People like you are the reason I find it comical at Ducati club meet-ups with humpback romper suit wearing over 40s on the 'race bike' for the road.. Let's agree to totally disagree.
Mate, your the one who's just joined the forum and has come in all aggressive and defensive. Judging by your profile pic I'm younger than you so the over 40 is nearer to you than me.
A good big one, will always be a compensation for a real small one lol, the clown is a shop who may know the market better than you, who knows.
Its a shame this thread has turned into a bit of a slanging match, the OP is trying to sell his bike and a nice example it is too. It's value is what someone is prepared to pay for it. As far as the bigger engine debate goes, Steve ( Mr R ) is building and achieving more bhp out of his medium sized motors instead of just replacing it with a larger motor, why because he can and that's the way he want's to go. There are others on the forum that choose to fit 1098 engines into 748 frames, why not just buy a 1098, perhaps they like the challenge or just like the look of the 748/916. We all do things for different reasons. I could afford to buy a dozen 1199s but am quite happy with my little 748 with it's 853 conversion. We are all different that's what makes us what we are. Good luck to the OP with finding a buyer. Steve
Couldn't agree more, each to their own. If I didn't already have one, I'd be after that bike for sale it's a minter.
Id be inclined to agree but this isnt a for sale advert is it? Its in the newbies section, and the bloke hasnt even listed a proper advert. If its in the for sale section then i agree it shouldnt be spammed. Dont get me wrong, i like 748's , hence me waiting for one to come up to buy. But some people need a reality check if they think a basic 748 is worth 6k or whatever. And not to sound like the playground, the aggressive 748 bloke is the one who started it wasnt he.... He told me my opinions are rubbish, and blah blah blah 748 are great and better than anything blah blah blah , you dont know what you're talking about blah blah blah....
hi i would like to sell my ducati 748 its done 9000 miles never rode in the rain immaculate showroom condition 2003 the best example ive seen for the year open to offers ? Looks like it's for sale to me. Steve
Well, I do apologise for being personal in a few of the posts (hardly aggressive). With my comments on 40+'s romper suits and freudian size obsessions I was mocking in general all who value engine size above all when selecting a bike. Birdie made the points I wanted to make in a far more eloquent manner without resorting to mockery. As was mentioned, people will list something for sale for what they feel it's worth and people will pay for it what they feel it's worth, with all Ducati's a lot of the value is in the condition and the history it can/does make a difference of thousands.
Maybe we are different but in my eyes a proper advert should include the details needed for a buyer to decide if he would like to get in contact to discuss further..... Service history, bits replaced, rockers done? , owners, any mods etc, and more importantly an asking price. Open to offers should be banned in my opnion as it just screams i want too much for my item and im chancing my arm.
Now who's being personal and aggressive, you embarrass yourself, I'm not going to sink to your level. I didn't get offensive, I just wound you up, scarily easily, there's always negative twits on forums talking down someone who puts something up for sale. I put a couple of ads up that made you look a bit silly and you both went mad. I saw a few more 748Rs and SPSs for 7k, not saying they're worth more than 9x6s always of course, just that the prices aren't as different as you seemed to think. And it's easy to prove you can buy a standard 916 for less than a top end 748. As we said in the end, each to their own and I couldn't really care less about any further thoughts or grumpy little insults you have to say because arguing about the price of a motorbike is the single most stupid thing I've seen in years. Though I do agree the 853 is the best Ducati, Ducati never made
