899 Carbon Fibre - You Get What You Pay For!

  1. Just thought I'd describe the carbon hugger that I bought this week....

Hate to rubbish someone, as the guy I dealt with was very polite, but the product quality from Carbon Fibre Fever was really poor. In fairness, the overall finish seemed fine but the fit was awful. Paid £200 for a deal including the front mudguard and rear hugger. Fitted the rear hugger today (as the seller was awaiting stock of the front guard)...

Well, the holes wouldn't line up, so removed to 'tweak' with the Dremel.... tried again. Still wouldn't line up.... after trying to remove a fair amount of carbon from one of the holes I slipped and scratched the hugger.... queue massive rage :punch:

Finally got the holes to line up and the b@stard thing was wonky....

Contacted seller to ask for a refund... obviously said he wouldn't as it was drilled and scratched.... but then said you often need to drill them to make them fit. Go figure?!

Got refund for half the order (£100) and threw the other fu*ker as far as I could!

In sum, you get what you pay for. Re-ordered some new stuff from Carbon Conquest site... and tossed away £100.

If anyone disagrees about my description of Carbon Fibre Fever then I'll take this down.... but I think the stuff should fit well without drilling etc...

Meanwhile, the Evotech 2-piece rad cover I bought is mint!

Still feel like a retard though.... :Sour:

Has anyone got a small Ducati sticker for a front fender by any chance?

  2. Who was the original Carbon from mate?

  3. I could make you one with crayons  but you would need some glue, but you should know my business name is Sticker Fever before ordering :Wideyed:

  4. Carbon Fibre Fever buddy.

  5. Hoofin'. I feel better already... Cheque for £100 cover it? It's in the post. Cheers......

  6. It will cover it apart from the postage

  7. I ordered rear hugger shock cover and heel plates from them ! Had to do the same thing with the rear hugger and drill the holes out ans when i finally mounted it i had to make a small spacer so it didnt look twisted! Also had to make spacers for heel guards ! I emailed him and he said samething but the product still looks good but you shouldnt have to be tweaking it to fit ! I want the front mudguard from him and chain guard so i will be expecting a decent discount!

  8. A couple of the carbon parts I bought I have had to drill out holes a bit wider, and heel guards I have rubbed on the swing arm so I had to place a washer behind them to stop this so he is correct there but once on they looked fine. Haven't bought anything from the same place as you though but I thought they all made moulds from the OE part so wondering how they have managed to get such a bad fitment.

  9. Moulds change shape after so many uses so its prob that but if i get same problem with front hugger i will be getting every penny back lol

  10. I have just fitted last weekend a carbon hugger and keyguard to my 1199s, both items bought from Conquest Carbon, both items are mint and no need for drilling or spacers.
Perfect fit straight out of the box.
Have now ordered shock cover and engine case covers :)

  11. My sentiments entirely. All of the carbon I had for my 848 was a perfect fit.... no drilling, washers or filing required. It sounds like Conquest are really good - their website guarantees a perfect fit. Looking forward to mine arriving. Sorry @Bunglebubs..... I have to disagree with you mate.

  12. Well I have 2 bits fitted and the rest apparently arrives tomorrow :) I am not excited .......... Much

  13. Post some photos mate. Keen to see the quality/look when fitted!

  16. As you can see both are a nice snug fit. The keyguard is an exact match to the hugger in mattness and weave.

  17. Oh look here comes the comedy club :)

  19. I was thinking about ordering some engine case covers. Keep us posted on how they are to fit, as I was wondering if they fit straight on or do you have to start dismantling the bike in any way.

  20. Regrets, I've had a few, usually anodised: blue :D
