Names are a pain , hate 'streetfighter' and 'dragster' not much better Wish marketing would stick to numbers I'm thinking 18-30' . ;£ Seriously it's fun - enjoy the bloody thing fuck the naysayers
Each to their own I say, good luck to anyone who has purchased one, it will be fun, no matter what the bike, they all have two wheels, wind in your face, open road, jobs a good en.
Sat at my fathers a few days back and an odd noise could be heard coming through the trees, I know most bikes by sound (sad I know) but this time I had no idea! Turns out it was @Desmo Dave from W M Snells a mate of mine who was running in a new scrambler, he popped in so I could take a quick look, it's an odd looking critter, silly things that drive my OCD a crazy like the clock is placed over to the right and the Rev counter works backwards!! That alone was info overload, plus the bars are rubber mounted and move around while sat on the bike deliberately flexing them, ok so the bars can be changed and the clocks are no major issue, tbh I quite liked the package and seeing him RIP down the drive I can see its appeal! Plus talking to Dave it seems that the bike is very popular going on the number of orders Snells have for the bike, and those are paid up from what I gather, seems if you want one you had best get your order in before they sell out. I get why you'd want one and for the money it looks like bags of road and trail fun. I wanted to do a photoshoot (like my photography) in my fathers yard Arthur W Rudd Supplies, Reclamation builders Yard, Bricks, Tiles, Slates, Stone, Soil, Sand, Doors, Timber, Oak, Fireplaces, Logburners but he was pushed for time, maybe I should get a test ride and get some cool snaps
If it gets more riders out on the road having fun I am all for it.Too many of us old gits to keep the motorcyle business going over the coming years.
I just wish Ducati would do something more authentic and engineering-led rather than allowing the marketing department to dictate. I'd love to see Ducati's take on a bike like the Yamaha MT-07 for instance - cheap, simple, light, fun - looking forwards instead of backwards and not stamping all over its proud heritage with all this fashion bollox. Icon my arse.
They might be able to now with all them sales! Under Audi you can bet there are some pretty big expansion plans on model ranges - will not be a niche brand in the future I don't think :Wideyed:
All those who are scoffing should consider this:- So far the Ducati Scrambler has been a runaway success, perhaps even more so than Ducati themselves were expecting. Bikes won’t begin to be delivered to most markets until this month but already in the UK alone, more than 1000 Scramblers have been sold and are waiting on delivery. That might not sound like a huge amount but remember, it’s the middle of winter in the United Kingdom at the moment and for all of 2014 Ducati sold a total of 2,742 bikes there – with Scrambler sales alone they could double that figure in 2015.Taken from this article in Rideadvice.com
Guys, what's wrong with you?, read the world press reviews and write ups together with MCN comments this week, £7k for a brand spanking Ducati?.. They have already sold over 1000 units and they are only just arriving into showrooms!!! Glad I've ordered my yellow icon to sit next to my Ducati superbikes, It's a no brainier at that money I have the Moto GP look but I want one of these wee babies too! Lol
I think its great that Ducati are diversifying. The motorcycle industry is changing pretty quickly and is no longer dominated by Supersports/Superbike like is was in the mid 2000's. I know manufacturers are looking at lower cost entries. Take Yam for example with the excellent MT07. Ducati have made another winner here I think and hopefully will continue to bring to market forward thinking bikes in the near future.
No, that's a rattly old 2 stroke which you can't get started without breaking the kickstarter and your left leg, plus you can't ride that thing on the road, (legally) lovely specimen though, had a 490 years ago, it was the most vicious thing I've ever owned including a few speedway bikes, enjoy
Are you the Grinch Andy! I've yet to see a bad review, even from one guy who was determined not to like it after all the Land of Joy shite Ducati have pumped out! Get ya cheque book out, I can see your old man on one ;-)
