I've done an interview for the local TV and radio in Dallas. Had a meeting with a construction company and now I'm back in my hotel relaxing before I go out to dinner.
I also just got back from Havana Cuba, I needed a couple of days in the sun to relax & get away from this bitter cold winter! Love the old 30's, 40's, 50's, cars! The Capitol And sitting with my buddy thinking about what upgrades will I do next on the Ducati!
It's my day off and I'm pleased to say I've done fuck all (apart from riding the Pani in a sandstorm this morning).
I have now had a huge fondue. You can't beat a good fondue after skiing. I doubt they understood you. You surely speak in Yorkshire.
They are always alcohol-burning here. Funny thing is, that that is, if I am not mistaken, methylated spirits in the UK, to which colour (not so important) and a nasty smell have been added to stop people drinking the stuff. I can't help feeling that the nasty smell would affect the flavour of the fondue for the eaters. I've not looked into what is available in the UK though. I suppose multiple candle power might do it, but you'd need a few and you can't turn them up or down easily. To make the fondue, you are going to need gruyère (easy) and vacherin fribourgeois (perhaps not so easy) and a spot of kirsch. This is a very standard one. "Acool à brûler" - "burning alcohol" is poured into the gauze filled reservoir in the middle, and lit with a match. The speed of the burning is controlled by sliding the lever to cover, or not, the holes.
After my good news earlier in the week I have just had the worst news of my life, My brother who is 2 years older than me lost a twelve month battle with cancer this morning, knowing he was very ill I was due to fly to Spain where he lives on Tuesday, sadly I have lost the opportunity to say goodbye. Steve
Sorry for the loss of your brother and again for your not having a chance to say goodbye. That's harsh for you. It'll be little comfort for me to say that having seen off my uncle and then my father, the last days for both of them were pretty much a case of them not knowing much of what was going on. They were probably unaware of my presence at the bed side. I missed my mother's passing by an hour but again, she wasn't aware of much so she wouldn't have missed my presence. Small comfort indeed.
