Wife's cousin the Exige is harder to climb in and out with the low fixed roof, especially last year with my prolapsed disc - still managed to half a dozen times though
very nice on the eye...........cousin or bike? lol. couldn't imagine climbing in and out of the lotus with a bad back,id need the fire service to remove me.
The TB R looks fantastic in the flesh, I don't think photos do it justice, I used to think if I were to get an R it would be a red one till I saw one up close. It could well have been yours Glen if it was you who came on a ride to Hartside & the lakes a couple of years back with Rockjock and a few others, remember following it down the Shap awesome.
Aye that would have been me mate. Was probably my last summer in the UK. Had it a good few years now. It just feels special every time I throw a leg over it.
All well and good having them as a potential money earner for later life. The rub is, could you bear to sell them after all those years?
I will deffo keep a few special bikes till I'm well past capable of riding any longer. Will they be an investment, who knows, but I will have years of enjoyment ragging them, and if they sell for enough to mean that my family dont have to pay for my funeral etc, then that is all the return I need.
hi Guys . can you please tell me if 1098r TB come with full carbon bodywork? or just a carbon bellypan? does it have alu tank? or carbon? did it come with 2x black keys and the card or 2x black and 1x red key? thanks in advance!
See below - exactly the same spec as the 1098R evidently, this will answer some of your questions Troy Bayliss is a Ducati legend. In celebration of his victory in the 2008 World Superbike Championship aboard the 1098 R, and the end of a career that proudly claims three World Championships aboard three generations of Ducati Superbike, the factory have built a 1098 R Bayliss Limited Edition. Enjoying exactly the same high specification as the standard 'R' model, the 1098 R Bayliss Limited Edition has a special colour scheme designed by Aldo Drudi. The livery, which was used during Troy's final race at Portimao in Portugal, incorporates the key colours of his success. Sporting the famous number '21' on the pearl white nose and side-fairing number plates, the red and white paint scheme uses the dark blue background of the Australian national flag to blend beautifully along the side of the bodywork and into the unpainted carbon fibre stripe along the seat unit. This attention to fine detail is also evident in features like the carbon lower-fairing finished in red, except for aerodynamic recess for the side-stand, which remains natural carbon fibre. A subtle '1098 R Bayliss Limited Edition' graphic on the tail fairing leaves no doubt as to what this magnificent bike is. The striking design contrasts perfectly against the 5-spoke wheels finished in matte black and additional special features like the carbon fibre heat shield on the exhaust. The 1098 R Bayliss Limited Edition will be limited to only 500 units and comes with a numbered plaque on the top fork clamp, indicating exactly where in the limited edition the motorcycle was built. The number also corresponds to a numbered commemorative desk-top plaque, beautifully encased for safe keeping and bearing the engraved signatures of Ducati Motor Holding CEO Gabriele Del Torchio and Ducati Corse triple World Superbike Champion, Troy Bayliss. In addition, the model will be supplied with a full racing exhaust system including 102dB carbon fibre mufflers by Termignoni (strictly for track use only), a dedicated ECU, branded bike cover and rear paddock stand.
Not all, not sure when they stopped the red keys, or what bodywork the standard R had - but looks like it was the same spec. If it has a red key it should have a red plaque with a bar code. My 999R Fila had nothing to state it was a Fila, other than the bar code on the Red Tag which had 999R Fila printed on it. Until I noticed this there was nothing to say it was a Fila - could be same for the Baylis 1098 too.
