I have had a nosey it looks like only 3 bolts and easy to get to so I figure I won't have to take fairing off but will know more at weekend. Its the last bit of work being done to bike then I will post pics of all the mods done its a fair list.
Just fitted my new Conquest Carbon front & rear hugger. Very pleased. Really good quality weave and no drilling required. As good as the DP stuff I've had in the past. Even bought the little Ducati Corse sticker to go on the front. Looks mint. Next job.... remove than rank exhaust heat shield and the engine covers too. Anyone done that on an 899 (with photos)?

Ha ha - I know exactly what you mean, my wife & kids have been on my case all week, Sneaked out the other day for a nice ride round, sunny as well although still a little chilly.
Not done the heat shield as that was replaced on 1st service when they fitted full system but I will be doing the engine covers tomorrow on an 1199 I expect it's the same mate, covers came in the post today and after looking at them and the bike it looks pretty simple, its only 3 bolts and easy to get to.
As in they replaced the heat-shield with another stock one? Thinking of titanium heat wrap and a carbon heat shield. I'll probably strip the engine covers off and put one of the CNC cam covers there. Heard there was a difference between the 899 & 1199 and getting the back plastic/tank off. Let me know how you get on! Good luck!
I freely admit, I have a carbon fetish, it's a real weakness of mine. As such, I stump up the cash and buy genuine Ducati Performance stuff (my dealer gives me a 25% discount on everything). The quality is amazing and above all, it fits. That's my 2 cents worth anyway.

The covers are not as easy as I thought mate. Backend has to come off and tank lifted as bear side cover has a top bolt hole that's under the tank and can't be got to without taking tank of ;(
Thanks for letting me know. I've fitted a fair bit of carbon fibre to my bike and the majority of it hasn't been as straight forward to fit as it looks whether it be DP carbon or aftermarket stuff because of hidden or inaccessible bolts which requires the need to pull the bike in bits or the carbon just not lining up. The worst piece of carbon I fitted was the under tray in the seat unit which houses the rear light, that was a right bastard. The carbon was from conquest carbon and it was an exact match for the original but the problem was there are eight clips that need to be lined up and clicked into place all at the same time, you also need to flex and manipulate it as you do so. This is easy with the OEM under tray as it is plastic but carbon fibre is rigid and doesn't twist. In the end I had to enrol the help of Mrs M which was my biggest mistake. It resulted in shouting, her in tears and me being stabbed in the leg with a screw driver. Anyway I eventually got it on and it looks great. So regarding the engine covers, is the end result worth the time and hassle of fitting them?
