848 Brake Light Switch

  1. So just realised i don't have a front brake light switch. anyone know how hard it would be for a hydraulic to be fitted? and if so what one do i get

  2. Get a micro switch. I heard you can get them from RS or ebay but not sure of exactly which one.

  3. Do you have standard levers? Is there any reason for not fitting a micro switch?

There are bound to be hydraulic switches available. I have hydraulic switches on a Guzzi, their usually easy to install just two wires. On the mechanical/hydraulic side though you'll need to drain the system, install the switch, usually they come as banjo bolts and get installed where you're lines leave the master cylinder. Then fill it all up and bleed it.

What I notice is they are a little slower to activate as you need the pressure before the switch makes.

Depending on type they'll be about the same or a bit dearer than a microswitch. I've seen them for single and double banjos and in steel and stainless steel

I think the banjo bolt thread is M10x1.0, but check, after that just do a Google I used "Hydraulic brake light switch banjo bolt M10x1.0" and got a lot if hits. I think single banjo bolt is standard, I needed a double for the Guzzi as I run separate lines directly from the master, if you have a race line setup then you'll need the double banjo type

  4. Hi are you sure you don't have a switch ?
Under the lever there is a small silver pin, it needs to have a nylon sleeve over it otherwise the brake light will not work.
