Kamusta,,,,,TBH.. much as I love driving there ( I accept I am in a minority in that ) and many of the people, there are also many things which I find very unpleasant,, the overwhelming abject poverty , overcrowding and associated litter and pollution , inequality and corruption , and not least , the mossies ! ( last time I came home with 15 open sores !! an experience I am in no hurry to repeat ). I never really had any problem with the chickens as they were just one of the many and ongoing obsticals to be avoided , the children wandering among the traffic in Manila was much more of a worry !! Jeepneys , bicycles, tricycles, children or chickens,, every turn has its own hazard,, but still loved it,,, a potentially and I am sure historically , pacific paradise, it has been ruined by centuries of colonial rule by eg, Spanish, Japanese and last but certainly not least the curse of global americanisim. not sure which model of ducati you have but for me some sort of 400 cc off road bike would be best suited to the rigours of the phillipine roads.
I found the Philippinos almost universally hospitable, charming and friendly. Great people, even though they have almost nothing. Perhaps great people because they have almost nothing.
Hi, what do you mean "please send woman,me.....? Hi loz, yeah it's a crazy life here on a bike...thanks for the message
yeah man it's crazy here at the best of times but there are ways to get things done to avoid some of the stress. I have never been to Cebu though,
Couldn`t agree more Glidd. Philippines one of my favorite places TOO Oh.. and welcome Graham. Tell us more about life and riding there.
Yeah all of that and more can be expected here. I have Ben Bostrom Euro Limited Edition 998S, but the Euro Edition has the 996R engine, a lot of quality upgrades also on my bike...right now I am waiting for a new clutch pack and spider spring, just yesterday it cleared Customs so hope it arrives at my place in a couple of days
Life here is laid back for me and many other expats, I have been working in China for several years though. anyway, now I have been home for 10 Months and it has been good for the most part, I also ride a Harley Heritage Softail which is slightly customized. riding anywhere, except on the express roads is very dangerous and a real eye opener for visitors. You can forget all you know about courteous drivers when you are here, you will be run off the road by buses, trucks and cars who simply flash there headlights to indicate that you need to get out of their way. Living here is quite nice, you can buy anything that you need once you have worked out where to go shopping.
