Hi everybody, i usually frequent Aprilia and Bimota forums, but my latest acquisition brought me here.. Bought a 2003 999R with just 77 miles from a collector,,do i store it, ride it, or sell it??? Any opinions welcome. Cheers
77 miles may as well be a few hundred. If you have purchased as an investment it wouldn't harm to use it a few times - bikes are either new / low mileage or otherwise. If it doesn't have history then it will be hard to prove mileage anyway which I guess is where you will be with yours showing only 77 miles...
It doesn't but I am interested in these bikes so like to know, that's what forums are for, discussing with other people with similar interests. He asked advice, I think I gave him a relevant answer - what is your comment aimed at? Remember your questioning regarding my prototype before I proved what it was - I didn't ask you why but answered constructively
It's OK if it's a secret, hard to do if you don't have mot evidence as my low mileage Fila R has, it's unusual on low mileage bikes which could have been tracked and converted back. If you think I was questioning it's integrity as Ricky clearly thought, then I wasn't, even though he does so himself - which is why he probably though this . If you know the bikes history through personal circumstance I was going to suggest you document it as best you can if investing in this bike as in the future people will be sceptical and it will effect the value if there is any doubt - same reason foreign R's struggle to sell due to a grey area in their history. If you want any tips on long term storage I'll let you know what I do if you think it will help.
Great choice of bike Can't hurt to ride it a few hundred miles a year, then at least you will start to build up a service / mot history. I would have thought anything upto 3-4000 miles now wouldn't matter.
