Well life over the past year had been going quite well. Settled into a new job, doing around 150 miles a week on my F800GS, friday last week at 1:20am. Started my beast up & it quickly turned off, back i walked to switch it on with a message EWS on the dash screen. Then, i noticed a small yellow light down by my forks. Low and behold my gear selector occasional malfunction has turned into a more dramatic situation, my beemer was suffering from an electrical fire & shortage onto the frame. Crackling white light & me frantically blowing the little inch high flame out. The dealership want £800 for a new can-bus wiring loom & that's just the start of the bill, not even dealing with the faulty immobilizer that seems to have disintegrated by bikes value too nigh on a total loss. Ignoring the above I have been more & more attracted to a multistrada. I don't really know why?!?! BMW offer a great level of service & courtesy bikes for when yours (as i am currently) either has trouble or needs servicing. Well, back to when i was reading up on 2014/2015 models & things were a bright distant future. I've been saving up for 'new-metal' as I read from a poster on here (quite like that term). And now that I've had this event take place, work & savings are up in the air. I don't want to buy a 2nd hand small bike for a year or less. I don't want a beemer even though its the most sensible thing to do. Keeping with a trusted brand & have the convenience of loan bike when things get serviced. I just haven't got the remaining £10,000; anyone feeling generous? haha ps: The only thing i am looking forward too is owners reviews of multistrada2015 bikes.
I genuinely felt like a swathe of jealously just flowed over my head. Where is the logout/delete account button No sod it, get my bike fixed & annoy you lot on your mutley ride outs!!!!1
Love visiting europe & the farthest I've been is Slovenia. Visiting northern europe is a long-term daydream too see the northern-lights!
Oh yeah 08 plate, 75k & probably not worth claiming on my insurance if it causes me immense raised premiums for many years too come. I've never claimed & as the bike is only worth 2.5-3k I don't think its worth boosting my payments for 5+ years all for a few grand. It's just that I really really wanted a ducati & was well on my way to getting one paid off before end of 2015 with no debt.
Cheers for the link mechcanico lee. I've now committed to getting my bike fixed & saving up for a 2016 multi or maybe a 2015 with free panniers in a years time. The thought of saving a few hundred & having the same problem occur is not worth it. I've got a big £1,500 bill coming but i have been treated well by BMW now & in the past. I'm still besotted with the mutlistrada.
