@stretta exactly what do you disagree with? The first part of my post was a cut and paste from the BBC. The second purely a factual statement based on these numbers. It surprised me so many openly said there was some justification - did it not you? Your views would only add to this debate and are more than welcome. You are equally welcome to disagree and not comment also but there was nothing erroneous regarding my statement
I disagree with "it is a bigger issue than some would realise I think..." It's a poll of 1000 so called 'Muslims'. Is that a reliable statistic to be basing your fears upon? Statistics can often be as meaningful as tripe - just depends how you 'want' to interpret them.
Public opinion polls are usually based on a sample of 1,000 or so respondents. They are not, of course, wholly accurate and there is an occasional outlier. Still, they provide a broad indication of opinion, and if several polls are averaged and compared over a period of time the trends are a pretty good indicator. I cannot see that this particular poll is any less accurate or reliable than any other polls would be.

Surveys are statistically meaning less, according to statistics of course. Until the middle east goes through a reformation type period the west will be plagued by intelligent but different guided (not mis-guided, as that can only be after cultural change I think) groups. Tough time ahead for many, but no cause for panic.
But it is a true statement surely? As I personally would like to think the 'minority' regarding this incident would have been less than 1%, way way less for all our streets to be safe from this threat with their attitudes - it's a massive amount (not forgetting some would have hidden their views). So, I stand by my statement as factual and partly considered as written.
Thought of loads to write, but in short, I can't be the only person to think the world would be a better place right now without Islam in it?
the world would be a better place without money, oil , diamonds, drugs, land ownership or whatever else folk kill one and other over.. in fact more people die from any one of the above world wide than from Muslim extremist but thats not what the powers that be want you to see.. I aint saying its not a reality or a genuine threat but to me it just seems like we are being told to look one way.. Its slight of hand for as reason.. Certain nations and governments and indeed religions rely on conflict and can not see any other economic way forward. a bit like NI where some individuals refused to let go of the power that the conflict brought them but eventually the number of people that were prepared to commit extreme acts dwindled as im sure in time will happen here.. maybe im wrong... i usually is....

interesting point. i personally think that in the beginning (not in a religious way) a pecking order was sorted in the usual fashion, brains vs brawn and so on and some ground rules were laid out. as the written word wasn't about then they relied on story telling to make it stick, then as people spread and other languages developed, like Chinese whispers the stories changed. Which is why all religions seem to have the same basic principles but a different spin. religion and its rules have been and maybe forever will be used by dominant members of society to force the behavior of the masses. Most would not go to war over some power hungry fuck wanting more oil but if said oil is in the home country of a heretic or infidel then bring it on. i dont think religion has been the cause of any war to date,..... merely a way to rally ya troupes
dude, I have to use spell check for pretty much any word with more than five letters in it (that aint a joke btw) and some times even though i know the spelling dont look right I cant see the correct word so have to roll with it! i often have to open another window and use the word i want in a sentence in the search window thing as im not even close enough for spell check to recognize what im tryin to write! It adds humor anyway.. arsehole it aint easy being extremely smart yet very thick....or even just very thick!:Asshat: hehe a wig for troops... i get it
I agree with pretty much all comments above. But one problem at a time folks. Kill 'em all and turn them into sausages that's what I say.
stop calling your self thick chiz, i almost said something the other day, there's people out there that can type 20000 words of 4 syllables or more on a subject but still say nothing. you have an ability to say more with less. i canny spell, but i can read and easily understand poor spelling, punctuation and dialect, no prob. only a robot needs perfect grammar to understand an instruction or argument. saying that i do struggle with fat fingers. so what turns a dude from a group weather it be muslim, a teenager or any minority group in to a rebel or jehadst or separatist ? feck knows but i suspect constant ridicule, scrutiny and perceived injustice from the majority group plays a big part.
Finn, the guy cuts peoples heads off while being filmed, people who were there to help the locals. These are cold blooded ,planned executions. Do you really think ridicule, scrutiny and perceived injustice can turn good people to that. Please don`t make excuses for this sick behaviour.
In my opinion religion and politics are little different. There are honourable people from both worlds who are genuine in their desire to be of service to others and make the world a better place even if their efforts fall short or turn out to be counter-productive. But there are plenty of others whose desire is authority and control. Religion is not the same thing as theism, the belief in a deity. Belief in a creator, even vague spirituality, is a matter of personal conscience, inclination/credulity and faith. Religion is the formal process by which private faith is taken into public ownership, organised and bureaucratised. It is the politicisation of belief. It tends to be a hierarchical, rigidly structured, coercive and partisan. Like politics it is divisive, but unlike politics it is never democratic, always authoritarian and ultimately a means by which human beings invoke fear of the dark to exert control over other human beings. At least, that's certainly true of the Abrahamic religions and Islam is the worst of those.
