There is only one state in the Middle East that wants all people in the region to get on with their lives in peace and security - and that is Israel. There is only one state in the Middle East that when it responds to the pretty much constant barrage of missile sent into its territory by its neighbours tries to avoid causing civilian casualties or targeting schools - and that is Israel. There is only one state in the Middle East that respects the right of all the other states in the region to exist - and that is Israel. The is only one state in the Middle East whose biotech and medical knowledge helps to improve the lot of human beings worldwide - and that is Israel. There is only one state in the Middle East whose government practises remotely democratic principles - and that is Israel. There is only one state in the Middle East that never initiates attacks on its neighbours - and that is Israel. There is only one state in the Middle East that has never spawned a suicide bomber - and that is Israel. And your point is? That we should be supporting the Shia savages who deny Israel's right to exist?
They certainly do - but the trouble is if you have a faith that defends acts of barbarism you are always at the mercy of those who feel entitled to change society for what they think is the better by whatever means they choose. Israel is the only democracy in the Middle East and it's the only non-Muslim state. Do you think that is a coincidence? Democracy and Islam are mutually exclusive. Any Muslim who says he is a democrat is a former Muslim - and good luck to them. They are heroes in my book.
Have to confess I don't know much about the Society of Friends. I shall look them up. I would consider myself an agnostic. I neither believe nor conclusively disbelieve. Its not the concept of personal belief in a creator (or non-belief) I have trouble with, its the cult of organised religion - entirely man-made phenomena for entirely Earthly purposes.
I would love you to read the following and tell me why Israel should not stay where it is, unless, of course, you can prove that the awarding of Nobel Prizes is influenced by Zionists. Lewis TOTAL: 129 Jews are not promoting brain washing the children in military training camps, teaching them how to blow themselves up and cause maximum deaths of Jews and other non-Muslims. Jews don't hijack planes, nor kill athletes at the Olympics. The Jews don't traffic slaves, nor have leaders calling for Jihad and death to all the Infidels. Perhaps Muslims should consider investing more in education for their citizens and less in blaming the Jews for all their problems. Regardless of your feelings about the crisis between Israel and the Palestinians and Arab neighbours, even if you believe there is more culpability on Israel's part, the following two sentences must surely change your mind: If the Muslim Arabs put down their weapons today, there would be no more violence. If the Jews put down their weapons today, there would be no more Israel. Is it any wonder that a tribe of 14,000,000 people feel threatened when a tribe of 1,200,000,000 people deny their right to live?
merely saying that Israelis may be the nicest most intelligent peaceful people on the planet but their occupation of a region may have a little bearing on that state of play today.. england america japan russia and so on may have more technology and boast more noble prize winners than the poorer countries on this planet but does that give them the right to take by force?
they dont have to create too much as they are supplied by their allies and boast some of the most advanced weaponry and special forces on the planet (maybe rightly so...) and as far as the jews not brainwashing their kids why is there still compulsory service in Israel (for men and women)? maybe because if given the choice the youth might decide on finding a peaceful solution
Did Israel take land by force then? They have made the desert bloom: it's very obvious when you visit the region which country is spending its limited resources on peaceful activities and which are spending their vast oil resources on exporting terror all over the world. The Jews did not walk into the region in 1947 - like Hitler did in Poland or Putin did in Crimea, Dagestan and Ukraine - they were relocated there by the international community. And they've been struggling stay there. I think as a cultured people they should have been given Austria as it spawned Hitler!
For God's sake Chiz!!! They are under constant threat from their inimical neighbours and their very right to exist has been questioned by a state that will soon become a nuclear power. They need all the soldiers they can get. I would have thought that was obvious!
weather they walked in there or were placed there by the un is of little importance to the millions living in the gaza strip (noy by choice but one of the most densly populated regions there is) with their every movement, import and power decided by there "peaceful" neighbors. the irish didnt take to kindly to it and despite your views on Islam (which i share to a degree) why should they? it may be an historical injustice but for a people forced to exist in squalor it is not one that is going away
