  1. Actually sympathising with is only a small step away from supporting.

  2. More importantly, sympathising is a long way pn the wrong side of condemning and opposing.

  3. Only one creed produces suicide bombers and people willing to behead others though. Anyone guess which one?

  4. Ridiculous statement - sympathise for people murdering over a cartoon? They need to realise their beliefs are ludicrous to be honest :)

i can't believe that any intelligent Muslim who wants to take advantage of the freedoms offered by living in the west rather than the hellhole they came from would think that their cause was furthered by "sýmpathising" with the cold-blooded murder of people who had committed no crime.

  6. People aren't born radical, they are made radical. We need to understand the path towards radicalisation if we want to stand any chance of curtailing it. As 'regular' people we do not understand the depth of feeling some beliefs install in their followers. Were the attacks justified? Not in a million years. Were Charlie Hebdo irresponsible to publish the cartoon? Undoubtedly. Play with matches and you are liable to get burned. What were they hoping to achieve by publishing what they did? The outcome seemed inevitable.

  7. You do realise the image of Mohamed has been used in Islamic teachings and art for centuries don't you and that it is a recent phenomena, or excuse that they are using? Have you researched the Koran at all or are you making comments when not understanding any background at all :) You in your life do many things that insults them that they could choose to pick on, more so the women in your life...

  8. Phil, that kind of fatalism is worrying.
You cannot act in accordance with your nation's laws because someone might murder you? Nope, I don't like that.

  9. Walk into a bar in Scotland and shout "all Celtic supporters are paedophiles" and see how far you get. You may not have broken any laws, but you can't possibly expect to walk out as if nothing ever happened.

Just because it isn't specifically illegal doesn't mean it's not wrong to deliberately provoke.

  10. I see you ignored my point as it doesn't fit in with your reply :)

  11. Ignoring for the moment the difference between slander and satire, which we shouldn't but just for a second, the fact that a reaction is inevitable does not make the reaction legitimate.

    Define, "provoke".

  12. Well im going to carry on calling him Jihad John as its a catchy nickname I can remember and refer to easily a bit like terry Taliban.Got be easier than using there real names lol.

I think we are getting a very one sided view on this forum but then that is not really suprising given the membership.I havent spotted any muslim members if we have any posting to maybe clarify certain claims. It seems also to me we are making them out to be uniquely evil lol only this creed of people do this and that blah blah blah.

I can point to some people not far away that have commited similar acts. And guess what there not muslims shock horror. They used to torture people and black and decker them to death ie shankhill butchers.Others used to beat british army soldiers to death using fence posts in public lynching and had no problem blowing up innocent people including women and children and even a pregnant women ffs at Omar.

Surprise surprise a minority of the locals had sympathy for there cause also.So are all catholics a big threat to national security like we are making the muslim community out to be just because a minority have views contrary to ours.To me every section of society has a minority of dickheads that have extreme views.

  13. Sorry. In a free society that is palpably wrong as comedians and polemicists provoke all the time. The law of the land is the final arbiter of one's actions in a democracy, not a minority interest group. You have to be grown up about such things. Christians didn't kill anyone because The Life of Brian was made. And Jews don't go around shooting people every time The Merchant of Venice (a play by Wm Shakespeare critical if Jews that's studied in schools) is performed. What makes Islam so special it has to claim special treatment. Please engage your brain before posting.

  14. Interesting but the first guy interviewed didn't do much to counter what critics of Islam are saying.
Quite the reverse, actually, thinking about it.

  17. I watched it and thought the opposite Loz.Seems a nice chap to me and im sure id get along just fine with him if I bump into him localy.

Some will disagree though as he claimed to be a British muslim. He also claimed to be a muslim first but respect the laws of the land and feels totally British as he was born here.

  18. All I have to go on for this chap is from what he said. I listened to what he had to say and how he said it.

I cannot comment on what sort of person he is, obviously. I don't pre-judge individuals without something concrete to go on.
His words though ... I can judge them.
