Hi All, I could do with putting some new front brake pads on my track only 848... Any recommendations much appreciated... Cheers, Bob
I use Brembo for my track 1098R and they work great. I'm guessing they'll fit your bike. Part number is 07.9882.10.
What sort of calipers are you running? If they are the original non-Evo type then I would recommend new calipers as the 2 pad original calipers are piss poor.
The calipers are the original non evo 2 piece units. Are mono block really that much better?? Cheers, Bob
In my opinion, the 4 pad calipers from a 749/999R or Aprillia RSV are much better than the original 848 type calipers. You can get them for a reasonable price too. I did this swap on my M1100S and they are much improved. I don't know about monoblocks, apart from they are quite pricey and look nice.
Yeah, I had a 999R with the 4 pad set up. Excellent performance. I've now got a 1098R with monoblock set up. Again, excellent performance. In both cases there was/is enough stopping power to put me over the bars at 150mph! Even with spirited track work they don't fade too much. Both set ups more than enough for me
Watch out though, the S1000RR calipers take different pads so they aren't the same as the ones on Ducatis and Aprillias.
Many thanks for replies. I need to do some more research then to decide (aka afford) on a caliper change or not But in the mean time I'll probably pop in some performance friction 95s... Unless I get advised otherwise... Cheers, Bob
if you upgrade to mono blocks use ktm rc8 they are the same 6901301510130 CALIPER - WITHOUT PADS £231.18 much cheaper than getting from Ducati make the bike look more trick as they are black and use the Sbs dual brake pads will stop on a pin head but remember use race spec brake fluid
Cheers; good tip on the KTM callipers. Will wait till I get back form Portimao to see how the cash situation is... Rgds, Bob
