  4. Boom....thankya very much...be here all week....

  5. Dont get me started!!!

  6. Anyone replaced a chain on an 1199 with a 'real' one? It would be interesting if this condition is a result of the exhaust heat or just a poor Ducati chain.

  7. Interesting point.

  8. After cleaning the car again yesterday I would love to know what they put in the 'road salt' they put down these days as much of it doesn't wash off anymore even with decent quality cleaning products.

  9. Paint starting to peel off fork bottoms. 4 month old bike.

  10. I've had my 899 since August last year- phoned the dealer today to discuss the rusty chain & condensation in both the headlight & display, he put it down to me leaving it in a damp garage ! If I'd known I needed an air conditioned chamber for it I would have thought twice;)

  11. I have just replaced mine with D.I.D gold chain was out Friday and Sunday so about 150 miles so far on it maybe a little more, will be out again this weekend, Some signs of salt abraision in the whole through middle of wheel where paddock stand goes. will be getting the Autosol out on it this week to clean it up then silicon spray it.
Will prob look at R&G or similar spindle sliders to block the hole up and give it a little protection.

  12. My 899 was like that after 3 weeks fecking shit, mind you my dealer got all replaced under warranty.

  13. Seek advice from another dealer, Surely a sealed unit shouldn't get condensation in it even if garage is damp.

  14. Have you replaced sprockets aswell as the chain?
I think I'm also going to replace the rusty one with a d.i.d gold chain, just pondering the sprockets also

  15. Ducati refused to replace sprocket and chain on warranty said they are consumables, but fork bottoms were replace and so were the ally line feeds in to the callipers and couple of other bits.
My dealer replaced sprocket as good will gesture with a Talon one and only cleaned the chain up.
I have an 1199 now and I have put D.I.D chain on that looks right smart.

  16. It's far from being must Ducatis or even just exotica.

I had to replace the sprocket nuts on my K7 recently, they were pathetic, as were another load of the bolts, Yamaha have terrible engine casing corrosion issues, along with spokes, KTM have plenty of clutch cover paint issues, etc etc Mate of mine has a Blade with 3000 miles on it and has just spent £200 on Stainless and Ti bolts as despite him being the most anal bloke I know about cleaning, it looks like shit.

I once upon a time sold my Sport Classic because of engine paint peeling on the bottom, I know now that was a mistake and I should have just accepted the issues and resolved myself.

  17. I had a KTM Enduro R bear in mind that is a dirt bike I was surprised that after 4 months most of the visible bolts were all furred up as if they had been sat outside for 5 years, and the bolts holding the the grips and switches to the bars were rusted :(

  19. possibly sound dumb, but is it a trade off weight wise cheep shit=weight saving?

  20. It's just annoying more than anything to have to keep ringing the dealer. Do the 1199 people get the same issues at all?

If not might just trade up to the 1299 come end of summer. If there is any of my bike left!
