It's a possibility. Or it would be but for the essential idea - you cannot have an upper-class without having an under-class. Sorry, I'll try not to do any more cynicism in this thread.
I dont think they are underclass anyhow, they all have phones, big tv's Consoles, drink, smoke, and so much more. it is what you choose to do with it that annoys me, most choose to take take take, and expect more
Interesting point of view. An under-class does not simply consist of a single type of person. There will be people who are desperate to get ahead, get out of their circumstances, do better and there will be people who are content to be bottom-feeders and survive through charity, crime and/or fraud. There will be people who do not fall into either of those categories. The spread of types in an under-class is a consequence of human individuality. There will always be people who wish to strive harder to improve their circumstances and who will make the higher strata of society richer as a result. In this respect, I count myself as a member of the under-class.
I blame the cops for stalking kids by going into primary schools to tell them about their social responsibilities (at least they did at my kids' school). That's what sets many of those not blessed with adequate intelligence off on a life of dependancy and crime.
Trouble is Loz we only ever compare to life today, compared to how life used to be years ago, the so called underclass live like kings today. I do tend to find that many think they should be given it on a plate just because someone else has worked their ass off it to get it, and now has it I might add my comments are only related to the programme, I do know there are many who want to better themselves, but most of all classes want to better themselves.
May dont strive to do better, dont strive to make their lives fuller, dont strive to have a better lot. They expect it. Media 'celebrity' culture is the root. It has made a 2% of the population issue into a 5% one
It is interesting that so many folk are not only prepared to allow themselves to be grossly manipulated by the script of some TV programme, but do not even seem to be embarrassed to admit it. The producers and editors of programmes select participants and clips designed to create synthetic outrage in naïve viewers - is that really so hard to understand?
I wouldn't want the life portrayed on the programme They might have teles phones drink tattoos etc but that's it I couldn't think of anything worse than sitting around all day bored out of my mind smoking and drinking
Can hardly see you hanging outside the dole centre boasting your on a tag and have a caravan in sheppey!
There is always another side to the story with anything to do with benefit street type programmes.I prefer ones a bit more realistic and engage your brain a bit. Dispatches - Britain's Benefits Crackdown - Channel 4
Something has got to change, everywhere you go now the foreign voices outnumber the locals, same with kids there's more immigrant kids than Brits. Then bloody Cameron say that curbing immigration won't help. Sorry state were in
