Advice On Pirelli Superbike Sc Slicks

  1. Hi Just to feedback on my tyre experience.

    I run the Pirelli Superbike Pro slicks for the first 2 days at Almeria (these are the hard ones, built to last).
    The wear rate and grip offered was fantastic. It was only once I was starting to put in times below 1.50 and after 2 days of abuse that they started to show their limitations on edge grip, although wear was minimal and could have continued to use. Tyres were predictable and at no point did I feel that I wasn't in control with them. No less than any other tyre I've used anyhow.
    I would highly recommend these tyres for people running in the inters or below and possibly for people running at the back of the advanced group.
    See pic below, the destruction of 2 brand new Dunlops after a combined total of 15 laps however the tyre on the left is a 2 day old Superbike Pro Slick.

  2. Cheers for posting that. I might try some of them on the Jerez trip , I've not rode on slicks yet.

  3. Was going to try these
    but read a lot of negative reviews so opted for diablo superbike slicks instead.
    I regret not getting them now lol.
    As you say they probably dont suit the fast guys hence mixed reviews.
    Will give them a shot next time round.

  4. Hello. How do the Superbike Pros compare to the fitted SuperCorsa or the SuperCorsa SC (I think I had SC2 but maybe 1) grip wise and lastability? I want to have a go with slicks for the NL Jerez trip and trying to decide which ones. Are the Superbike Pros grippier than SuperCorsas or less due to the durability? I'm running slow side of the fast group.
     
  5. I believe the full diablo superbike slick is pretty much same compounds but no grooves, where the Pros are harder/not as top spec sticky

    I did 7 sessions at cartagena, not on a fast pace either, with 1000cc power and have pretty much worn the rear out (sc1) on the diablo slick

    On the pros, 848 power, i did a day and a half and a mate used them for the rest of the racing season

  6. Just to close out.....I got a full refund for both tyres from Dunlop.
    Thanks to Jim Allan Motorcycles, my local bike dealer for chasing it up and thanks to Dunlop for understanding.

  7. Ive seen a few post on motorforum they had the same issue with dunlops

  8. I was also recently told that the reason for slicks over somethng like the supercorsas isnt outright grip per se, more grip on entry and allows heavier braking and profiles that are used for a bigger footprint on exit

  9. So the Superbike Pro slicks are still preferential to running SuperCorsas despite not being as sticky? I dont mind spending more if it's worthwhile , just trying to work out what makes the most sense. I've always run the Supercorsas on all the bikes and really like them so dont want to have something that performs less just for durability, but usually go through a rear on a track day and we have three days in Jerez.
     
  10. Imho I would stick with SCs, I found them far grippier

    Suspension is crucial for good tyre wear, as it psi and the right rubber. I wemt soft thinking it would be 20deg, it was 15 at best. Next time sc2 rear.

    I hear dunlop KRs give some of the best wear and a stupidly grippy
     
  11. I'm thinking about going for the usual Pirelli Diablo Supercorsa V2 SP with a second rear for the first day or two and a set of the full diablo superbike slicks for the last day.

    I usually get at least a couple of track days out of a front SuperCorsa; do you guys get the same with the Diablo Superbike Slicks?

  13. Just finished 3 days at Cartagena using Pirelli Diablo Superbike slicks, sc1 F and sc2 R.
    Was expecting the rear to wear out but it lasted the three days and still has,nt worn down to the treadwear indicator.
    No tearing on tyres at all,and the grip was fantastic, suppose it all relates to your pace and suspension.
    I was running in inters and knocked 14 seconds off my times last year when using supercorsa sp,s.
    Supercorsa sc,s will offer much better grip imo

Thats me kitted out with a set of SC2 Pirelli Diablo Superbike Slicks plus with two rears, and some supercorsas SP to fit after the Jerez weekend finishes :) I was initially going for SC1 for the front but the tyre guy recommended SC2 front and rear and it made some sense so I'll see how that goes.
     
  15. Generally always SC2 front and rears can be anything depending on temp and track.
