Disappointing service from a main dealer

Discussion in 'Ducati General Discussion' started by Peterpoddy, Aug 12, 2012.

  1. Although I live in Hampshire and visited both Snells and MR, I have ordered my new MS from slightly further afield, but I plan to use Snells for servicing.

I have canvased opinion on both these outfits, and I had hoped that people would confirm my own opinion, (based purely on my limited interaction with Salesman), that Snells are good and MR are bad, but everyone I have spoken to has praised both dealerships. It is interesting how many people actually know the first names of the mechanics!

I have noticed that people give their opinions by PM and not on the forum, for whatever reason?

  2. Ahah, you have said too much, and unwittingly you have given the game away.

It does makes you wonder where you can go for a good service? (excluding cornerspeed which is too far)

  3. Yeah. Agreed. I should have done that with hindsight. Doesn't really make any odds though, I just like a natter really.

I've seen so, so many threads where hasty things have been said and regretted later. And anyway, I reckon there's a mechanic with a rocket up his arse from his manager somewhere right now!

  4. Seconded, Alan is a wealth of knowledge and skill, built up over years and a proper old school mechanic, loads of respect for him.

  5. Oh I think I know who we are talking about here, peterpoddy, knudge knudge, wink wink

  6. Nothing is unwitting my friend, nothing at all..... :)

Still waiting for an answer on my apology though. ;)

TTFN. Off to the cinema now.

  7. peterpoddy seems to be playing US for biatches.

  8. Next the select few will be invited to a secret location where there will be a nasty death waiting ---- just like a saw film .

Death by a failing front sprocket at 9000rpm inches from yer eyeball I tells yer.

  9. Heard just as many bad tales from Lougi too..they all have it

I love the idea that some find any mistake 'unforgivable' and are ready to break down the authorities door to get them closed down. Get real, we're not talking emoto here....

  10. LOL
I know how you feel and I felt the same way, but once you have cracked the code and figured it out, you will have a different perspective, (and a feeling of superiority).

  11. Quite right, I run my own bike workshop doing all sorts with bikes even fabrication of small parts etc and trust Alan and Paul 110% they are both HIGHLY skilled with Ducatis and many other bikes and are the ONLY people who I would trust with my own bike! The temp mech they now have on full time is another skilled bike mechanic that forms another part of the team. As for MR they do know a little about Ducatis.... ;) lol Both dealers IMO go a long way to help customers with there bikes....

Problem you have is: you can bake 100 cakes and sadly you will only ever hear about the bad 1!

  12. Quite true and all humans make mistakes, it is how you handle the mistakes. In this case he says they did not care and were uppity with him. That would make me angry.
On the other hand, I guess it also depends on how you make your complaint.

  13. Very true mate and your bang on! Sometimes it's communication that's the key on all counts! But as you say if you get blown off then you have the right to rage!

  16. Nearly two weeks now, any closer to resolving this? Get it sorted before someone's reputation gets wrongly tarnished.

  18. Sadly some bloody good places get slagged off ... Yet it's rare you get how wonderful people are. If you have a real gripe approach the people and give them a chance to put things right.
If its not satisfactory then pipe up and have the balls to name....
I'm sure they would want to sort you then.

Craig on parts at MR is a great bloke after a few calls a year ago he knew my voice .. And who I was which was nice.

I was surprised Rosso got slagged off on here as people I know use them in London and they are top blokes.

If anyone slagged Carl Harrison off I'd be gobsmacked !!! And would love to bop them one as he is a bloody star
Never heard one complaint about him ever.

If your that angry with who ever it is then don't piss and moan ..
    Sort it ASAP .

We all have different expectations and that's understandable ... That's a forum for you :)

But have the balls to please just say who your unhappy with.
We are all capable of deciding who we take our bikes too.

We are all going to have different opinions.
    Spit it out man.

We are human we all make mistakes ..
Mechanics are usually careful as peoples life's are at risk ..

A tyre changing bloke at a well known bike shop in Ipswich before i knew where id go left my conical spacer out so my bike locked up .. On a dual carriageway I had to be dragged out of the road .
I was lucky .Swing arm eaten into .
I was asked to name them I did.
They where rude to be honest and messed about with my Suzuki as well and where pretty obnoxious.
I had to get my tyres fitted there as only place that had time to do them and they messed my bike up.
    Sadly I couldn't prove it :(
But I wouldn't let my friends have tyres fitted by them ever .. And yes I'd gladly say who!

  19. Strikes me this goat is probably using this thread and forum as a sword of Damocles over said (or unsaid) dealer...
