Which Paddock Stand 1098s?

Discussion in 'Ducati General Discussion' started by Ryanr, Mar 7, 2015.

  1. I will post this in 1098 area too...but is there anything I should know in general about single swing arm bikes?

    Thanks in advance

  2. If its for home use I'd have one of these:
Superbike Stand - Abba Stands, UK
Does the job of two paddock stands cheaper and safer.
    (See thread in Streetfighter forum).

  3. Only just seen this comment. There are so many sub sections on this forum, it's nearly impossible to find things!
Will most definitely be buying one of these. Looks like i'm best to buy straight from Abba Stands.
    Thanks

  4. I had the standard ducati stand and found it perfect for everything I needed.

  5. A word of warning with the Abba stand. I bought one for my Monster S4R from the NEC show. Great whilst the bike was on it very stable, but I had been moving the bike a little and when I came to take the bike off the stand it fell apart and the bike fell over damaging the paint on the tank- I was not a happy bunny! Make sure the thumb screw on the base that holds the two halves together is tight, mine had come loose enough for it to fall apart, or better still drill a hole, like I now have, where the thumb screw can positively locate-now it is very secure. Don't know why Abba don't provide holes or indents instead of relying on just the tightness of the screw.

  6. Ducati stand for me, very robust and holds the bike perfectly.

  7. +1 for the Ducati stand. Works perfect forever everything I need it to do. Very sturdy and a doodle to use and stand the bike up.

Be aware there are different inserts for different year 1098s. The rear spindles are different sizes on different years so check you get the correct one. I got the wrong one so had to get a few mm machined off the stand.
