Has anyone fitted heated grips and a GPS to their Monster 1200? I'm planning a couple of longer rides for later in the year and they'd be a welcome addition to the bike. My question is has anyone wired them to the spare fuse locations on the fuse box? I could add them with an inline fuse to the battery, but prefer them wired in properly through the ignition. The other thing is I don't want several things hanging off the battery, already have the trickle charger wired to the battery (fitted by the dealer). Just wondering how much of a pain it is going to be to get to the fuse box to wire them in? And, was hoping maybe someone has already done it that can offer some hints. My other option is to add another fuse block somewhere, but space is limited a bit. Cheers
Hi Pumpman, thanks for the link via PM. Yes, I had read that thread. Asking my dealer about that plug, their official reply was - "Unfortunately there is no Ducati GPS unit or heated hand grips available for the M1200. As a Ducati distributor we cannot recommend the use of any aftermarket or non-genuine accessories. I cannot and will not recommend or offer advice to make modifications to the wiring loom to suit any electronic aftermarket accessory". They wouldn't/ couldn't even tell me what that plug was for?? In the end I have bought some connectors and am going to set up a lead for it. What have you run through that plug? GPS? My only concern with it is if it's a fused connection?
Hi Bob , I Just ran a waterproof ciggy lighter thing with a usb connection with an inline fuse up to the bars and its working fine , where do these clowns expect us to get power from..modifacations my arse,
Yeah, I reckon. Their reply was pretty blunt I thought. When I spoke further with them about it, they said they've had issues with heated grips and the RBW, causing errors apparently. Cheers for the replies mate. I've ordered all the bits I need, just waiting on them to arrive now.
