Tyres!

  1. I have Michelin pilot road on my 2001 900ss ie and am not to happy with them.I have a bandit that I run bridgestone BT016s that are brilliant.I am thinking of putting a set on my ducati as I do feel more confident with them. Was just wanting to know what other people run???!!

  2. Ran BT016 on my 848 as I just couldn't get on with the Pirelli that it came with, absolutely loved them! Stable, found them good in the wet (the few times I got caught out) and excellent in the dry.

Have a Pani now that I run with Supercorsas on the road, which work really well in the dry.....wet though is a different story, as I found out coming back from Brands last year

  3. I think I will run BT016s I would say they are the best tyres ive run on any bike.
Hope nothing to serious happened at brands!!

  4. dunlop d211gp on track bike and both road bikes brilliant tyres.

  5. Was nothing at all, just the trip round the M25 to the M4 was 50% sodden and Supercorsas are asbolute rubbish in the wet. All a bit wriggly and horrible feeling but made it through ok ;):upyeah:

  6. I put Conti Sport Attack 2 on my 749 about 200 miles ago and I'm getting a flat spot already. Not impressed, might look at a duel compound next time. They do ride nice in the wet and cold but I can't afford to be replacing them that quickly!

  7. I've heard some mixed reviews on contis and they do sound like a bad idea at the rate of degradation! Bridgestone bt016s are a brilliant tyre so I am going to stick with them!

  8. I've got Pirelli Dragon Super Corsa Pros on my 998s. She sticks to the road like shit to a blanket on dry roads. Not so sure of them in the wet/

I've got Michelin Pilot Road III's on my Speed Triple - they've been on for getting on for 9,000 miles now! I'm not hard on my tyres as you will understand! They've still got tread and I've been very pleased with them, but they are well and truly squared off now so I'll probably replace them with Pilot Road IV's this year

  9. Everyones opinion differs, based on price and performance. I ran bt-16's on my 07 R6 and they were great, the turn in was excellent. IMO all you need is Pirelli Super Corsa on a track bike and Rosso Corsa on a road bike. Had Rosso corsa on my Street Triple R from new and they are brilliant. Dry grip is really good and also did a weekend in wales, it rained the whole time, they were excellent even when we got confident in the wet.

  10. Running M7RR Sportecs (not Racetec) on my SF. Coming up to 3000 miles now and they're performing as well as ever. I shall be sticking with them. Excellent wet or dry. They warm up very fast and hold their heat well, ideal for road riding. Had Supercorsas before and the Metzelers are superior in every department.

  11. I have BT16s on my 848 at the moment and I cant wait to get them off. They are much slower steering than the Pirelli's (which I'll be going back to) and have squared off in the same mileage that the Super Corsa's wore out. Some would say they are more stable but its a sports bike FFS! The Pirellis are crap in the wet for sure but as I rarely get out in the wet on that bike its not a problem. I did do the Ducati track day at Donnington on them 2 years ago and it was 'interesting' to say the least!

The 848 seems to suffer badly on them so I couldnt recommend them but I'm sure there are those who love them.

Let us know how you get on

  12. sportsmart 2's on both bikes. commute over the pennines all year. feel i 'know' the tyre better for it. They feel completely different as i run them at higher pressures on a heavier bike that has an under damped rear shock through winter.

  13. Keep us informed how you get on.

I run the BTs on the SRAD and love em. Not sure what the 996 has and I have not done enough miles to judge. I know they are 4 years old and the back end stepped out last weekend which I didn't enjoy.

  14. I have road pilot 3's on a SF 848, I have had the back step out but that is due to me being overy ham fisted with the throttle. I have found them plenty grippy enough.
