848 Move From 848 To R6

  1. Ive just sold my 2013 Gixxer 600 for my 2010 848, I looked at all the mid weights before I got my Gixxer and being a the other end of the spectrum at 5ft 6 it fitted me just right. I loved the screaming engine and there was nothing between it and my mates R6 on the road. Id say the R6 is better looking. I never really loved the look of the Gixxer, I bought it because it was a good bike at a good price at the time and fitted me, it was like a nice company car, did the job but I never really fell for it like you may a weekend sports car. The 848 however... it just seems to have character, presence..obviously totally different bikes but no question in my mind which puts a smile on my face without turning a wheel, its like having a really gorgeous girlfriend who is actually really good in bed too!:upyeah: The gixxer was quite dirty but not really wedding material:)
As a big guy Id say all the 600s would be a bit cramped. The 675 is tall and does have a bit more character if your not set on a screaming Jap. Get some test rides sorted;) Then buy something red...:D

  2. Ha thanks sparky! I appreciate the input :upyeah:

  3. I went from a D675 to a 848. Before buying the D675 I tested a GSX-R 600. The D675 is the perfect middle ground between the torque of the twin and the peak horsepower of the 600. What made me go for the D675 was that it was more fun all the time, as opposed to the 600 that was only fun in the high rpm range (where you'd be riding like an asshat most of the time).

  4. How about my 08 plate 1098? You can't go wrong. I am selling and will be advertising soon when the weather gets a bit better. I am open to interested offers and not looking for silly money. I will not take black jacks, wotsits or any other offering other than cash and a few grands worth please.

  5. I've owned a Daytona 675, bloody brilliant little bike. Nimble, quick and lovely triple sound with the sport (large single port) silencer. PX'd it for a 1098S. Yes a fantastic machine, but switched to an 848 when I was made redundant 3yrs ago. Absolutely no regrets. Just love the 848. :)

Probably would have kept the 1098S if I'd known I would get a job in 8weeks. Nevermind.

  6. Well had my first real ride out on the 848 after ditching the gixxer 6, I was with an r6 and d675 all day, I think the r6 looks better than the triumph and the triumph sounded better than the yam....but neither passed me unless I let them and only one bike pulled a crowd when we stopped, I wouldnt swap! They did say it was rather noisy in my slipstream:) maybe that's why they dropped back;)
Have to say the 848 is a lot comfier than the Gixxer was and turns beautifully, and it's an 848...:upyeah:

  7. I love screaming 600s, when its all flowing and you're right on it they feel incredible. They are designed for riding at maximum attack so if you try to ride them lazily they don't feel too great.
The D675 is a superb machine, much more torque through the rev range than an il4 (despite what the peak figures say), I absolutely love them and would have one like a shot.

You not got a set of Termi's yet, your mates will drop back even more when the bike hits the sonic boom with them on :Cigar:

  12. No one likes a show off Andy:Arghh:

  13. You are right, neither do I. I never go on holiday because I am self employed and my money is better spent in things that I can enjoy and not come back after 2 weeks of belching and farting and £3000:00 lighter with piss all to show for it but some photographs that no one is interested in. Personal choice how you spend YOUR money buddy!

    I hate envious people, don't you?:Greedy:

  14. I know how you feel, been self employed for 10 years, always tried to avoid holidays like the plague but I'm starting to enjoy them now, 2 weeks away from phone is becoming more of a pleasure than a worry, means 6 days a week all year but if I can have a holiday and still save up for some Termis:smile: I'll do my best:upyeah:

  15. Purchase the sashcuts and have the whole system polished, it transforms the bike 100% plus the sound is addictive.:D

  16. Set came on eBay yesterday with ecu £750 can't do it just now:Arghh:

  17. Just check they came off a non-Evo if that's what you have otherwise the ECU won't be the right one!

  18. I will then have a really good look under my mattress! Seem a bit pricey to me:cool:
