The North Korea Of Europe ?

Discussion in 'Lounge' started by johnv, Mar 10, 2015.

  1. If the UK left the EU would it become the North Korea of Europe, or has Gordon Brown completely lost the plot ?

  2. I'm inclined to say, "No" and "Yes".... but on the other hand, even in the EU, if we end up with Ed and Alex running the show, perhaps we will go in the same direction as North Korea.

  3. Gordon lost the plot long long ago.
Generalising here, most members of the public in most countries could not give a stuff if we are in or out and most politicians are pragmatic and would not do anything that damaged trade, tourism or relations between the countries if we left.
That said I`m sure there are a few diehards that would cut their noses off to spite their faces. How foolish.

  4. t.b.h i cant see Britain leaving Europe any time soon.

  5. Agree entirely with the first bit. Second bit about Ed and Alex......if it was just Ed, then yes, but Alex is nobodys mug.

anyway, Look at Norway, Switzerland etc......no problem

  6. I have a hunch the EU would make it smooth as silk, just to piss rUK off.

  7. The UK ain't going nowhere, it's staying put in Europe, but will keep a slight detachment just to piss off Germany and France. This is what we do.

  9. OMG, I agree with a post by 749er ;)

  10. Normal service is resumed. There are several countries in the EU with their own "independence" issues who would make it very difficult for an independent Scotland to rejoin.

  11. The UK outside the EU would be more like south Korea. Brown has made a career out of being spectacularly wrong on just about everything. This latest blathering is situation normal.
As for Scottish EU membership, if the UK had already left, the EU would be most unlikely to obstruct an application for membership from an independent Scotland. It is the fracturing of existing member states that it wants to prevent because there are separatist dominoes stacked up across Europe and once they start toppling the last one to go could be the project itself.
So if Scotland really wants to be a socialist utopia, independent of the UK but completed subsumed within the world's most antidemocratic political vanity project - a peculiar ambition, but each to their own - vote out in the EU referendum, and yes in the next independence referendum. We'll be out of the EU, you'll be back in it but out of the UK and the EU will be able to continue its social and economic decline unhindered by Les Rosbifs. Everyone happy.

  12. When was the last time Gordon Brown was right about anything?

  13. He knows how to sell a nations gold.

  14. Yes, he managed to to that when the price was absolutely rock-bottom : and he made sure of that by anouncing he was doing it, which pushed the price down just a bit further...
    He's a prevaricating pillock...

  15. We've the 2nd largest economy in the EU. If we were to leave would the EU turn down the opportunity of selling us their goods, no.

  16. Is that what you meant?

  17. how did we get the 2n largest economy? being part of europe?
as for scotland not being approved e.u membership. bit short sighted init. has scotland got nothing to offer the E.U or is you just on de wind up?
