749 A Luggage Recommendation Needed

Discussion in '749 / 999' started by Rob5, Mar 1, 2015.

  1. Hey guys,

I normally just use the bike for day trips but I'm thinking about a weekend away with the view to spending longer away. Can anyone recommend some good luggage, maybe panniers that work well with the 749? Seen this pic of some Oxford luggage which is the style I want to go for but can't seem to find it anywhere.

    Thanks

  2. I didn`t think throw over panniers were suitable for use with under seat exhausts, you live you learn I guess.
Next time I go away I`ll use Kriega tail packs, a 20l and a 10l should do it.

  3. Ok for bips....One of the pitfalls of owning a mono is not being able to pack anything on the tail,i'd like to do a spot of touring on mine but always feel limited by lack of luggage capacity, good job I've also got a Triumph sprint 1050...picos de Europa last year,Germany the year before and France later on this year, once you get the bug its not easy to shake it off...:D

  4. +1 for kriega stuff a little expensive but excellent and well worth the money and its transferable between bikes if you change :upyeah:

  5. Tooth brush and alka seltzer?

  6. Shit, thought you were going on holiday and wanted tips :Wideyed:

  9. You could use the Ventura rack system and bags.
It just so happens that I have the full rack and two aero bags which I will be selling soon. I also have a Bagster tank cover and bag for a 999 in red.
    PM me if interested.

  11. I'm very surprised at that John, looks like you could fit your house in there! Does it not raise the centre of gravity by a large amount? I suppose its only like having a pillion on my bip which isnt too bad.

  12. including the kitchen sink

  13. Just buy an Oxford tailpack. You'll get a week's kit in it and I've yet to find a bike I can't fit it to. Don't bother with throwovers if you want to get a squirt on, they go like spaniels' ears at speed and put the right mockers on your fun.

  14. it was big but very light only had my cloths in it but it is two bags zipped together

  15. Kriega, perfect for a week away.

Fitted to a mono seat with some non slip material between.

  16. I wouldnt want to try strapping a tailpack to the mono seat cowl on my bike ,the f@ckin subframe is fragile enough as it is!...seems to be a well known weak point on the mono 749/999 models IMO.

  17. Only on the old (silver) version.
