The Grauniad??? Steve Bell on Jeremy Clarkson – cartoon | Comment is free | The Guardian ...might have a point
Clarkson is brilliant imo, he does what he does perfectly and that's winding up those who are more than a little uptight. I am pretty sure those who don't like top gear or it's format are in the minority nowadays, whether it's changed over the years or not, the viewing figures don't lie. People need to chill out a bit
Unfortunately Top Gear is just better than any other shit on TV these days....I'd rather watch that than some Midwife rubbish or a documentary about owls. Shallow I know, but who cares....
Supposedly he wanted to have a knuckle with a producer according to this article (sorry "assault" to our dibble fraternity). Jeremy Clarkson suspended: BBC refuses to say if Top Gear will ever return after it is pulled from schedules - Telegraph
I like a bit of top gear and new age (old age) maverick Clarkson, but come on, that programme about those super hero Owls was brilliant.
There is an off button on the telly. Pick up and read a book. Much more worthwhile, than having the TV on with the white noise that is TG.
Now if you could just turn that into an amusing and entertaining hour long tv programme to replace the amusing and entertaining one that was cancelled, that would be great...
An important consumer advice show. May and Clarkeson's potted history of Peugeot was most informative. And accurate. Petition · BBC: REINSTATE JEREMY CLARKSON · Change.org Signed.
Am I missing something here? If he punched someone at work, he should be sacked, no questions. What if it happened in your workplace? I find Clarkson entertaining and occasionally funny but his ego is obviously out of control. Thats been fed by people telling him he's great and setting up stupid petitions to reinstate him regardless of what he's done. The BBC obviously dont want him......I'm sure Sky will offer him a golden handshake and I, for one, won't miss him. The format was stale (not surprising after 13 years) and needed a refresh. This is the chance the BBC have been looking for and I expect them to do a good job of it.
Ah, his contract was up at the end of the month. Could he be raising his profile before jumping ship ? Surely not
Have to say, I very nearly assaulted my ex boss and he really deserved it too, but at no point did I think I'd still be in a job after it.. Top Gear is a great format and compared to its rivals (Fifth Gear!, or any of the other Dave sponsored or ITV7 home video types) head and shoulders above them, but I honestly think if you took the famous three out and replaced them, people would still watch in their droves. And I thought half of the point was that we look at the exotica that we could never afford ourselves..Who wants an in depth review of the base model Hyundai i40?
MrAliT has it spot on. If you punch someone at work you WILL be dismissed for gross misconduct. If that is what Clarkson has done, then he should be sacked and no questions asked. There is no place for violence in any workplace regardless of who you are.
I heard the old Stig on Radio4 today being interviewed about the JC case. He said the people at the BBC should be sacked.
