Who Has Never Done And/or Would Like To Do A Novice Type Track Day Thing

  1. Chizel I have a taster session booked at Brands for the 8th of April, it is literally a 20 min session on track but you get a proper 2 hr briefing before, like you I am worried about taking my own bike on track but as someone else said in their post look at what we deal with on the roads, had a ride out yesterday and a twat on a roundabout indicating to exit so I pulled on to find he wasnt taking the first exit off the tosser. So I am taking my own bike.
Couple of mates doing one at Brands on 30th of Aopril all day session 3 groups, novice, intermediate and expert. I am seriously considering booking that one too.
As for which group I join after speaking to a couple that do regular track days who have looked my bike over and srutinised my tyres they reckon I won't be out of place in the intermediate group.

  2. Start in novice, you can always go up if yiu find you are lapping everyone.

  3. Im not saying that its a given that i will crash, especially on my first time as i would be nervously slow! in fact i would like to think i could take it up, ride every other week and never crash ever....but i think it unlikely...
Why is it so important that i take my bike anyway? it is not what i want to do..... I dont even have a van that it would fit in and im not riding to a track possibly hours away, doing a session then riding home..

  5. TD's are fun, just enjoy en and learn something. The more people who do them the merrier, avoid FE though.;)

  6. There was no one more nervous than me on my first track day
I took my own bike to see just how much more I could ride her properly
The first time out made me jump with all the others going past me
I must have been lapped about 10 times
I hated it as the other girls and instructor had ridden off considering they would ride to the slowest!
My second time out with one to one was much better and I had a really good time jelling with my bike

  7. fook sake whats the point in you having a bike? hire a van...........that would be my advise anyway no matter how far away the track is.......

hire a bike for the 3-400 quid if you want, plus the price of the day you'll be in 3 days on track abroad territory......

  8. The point in owning a bike is i fucken like it and enjoy riding it on the rd!!!! i also enjoy looking at it and cleaning and working on it!!!!!! Some track days include or will provide a bike so until i can afford to buy a track bike if i decide to, that is the rd i will go down end of. can we move on?

  20. @chizel 100% with you. If I'm going on a track it's to ride faster/harder than I would on the public highway. If I'm riding the same speeds what's the point of being on a track. Riding faster and harder will push me to unknown areas of mine and my bikes limit therefore increasing my chances of chucking it. Unfortunately I'm not in the financial situation where I can shrug off a bin on the 996 to experience. Having read your build that is not a track bike IMO.

My record is 1 track day, 1 crash. Luckily it was a hire bike. Next track day will be on my old SRAD which I know inside out and owes my nothing and is only worth about a grand.
