Mts 1200 luggage help....

  1. Evening all. Bit of a dilemma. Been having a practice pack for a European trip in October with the Mrs and it is becoming clear that the two Ducati panniers I have are not going to be sufficient. So here is the problem. Can't afford to rush out and buy the Ducati top box although it is on my wish list so ds anyone know of a reasonably priced carrier plate I could use an old tail pack I have or would someone be generous enough to lend me their top box for a fee obviously!! Please feel free to tell me where to go but hey got to ask.
    Cheers.

  2. That's a great idea. I have a great tailback that I think will work just need to look at top plates to strap it to.

    Cheers

  3. I am in exactly the same position, forthcoming Euro trip with the Mrs, I'd like a top box for the trip, but wouldn't want to keep it on after the trip and therefore it seems an expensive luxury.

I have a soft luggage bike tail pack which I could use, but would not want to strap this fairly scratchy bag directly to the MTS rear grab rail , this time I think I'm going to try one of these:

Waterproof Backpack Dry Tube - Dry Bag Rucksack

They are made for boating, they float, can be submerged and are reasonably cheap. I'm thinking that one of these will be ideal to stuff in jumpers, pants, socks, jacket linings, shoes etc. The sort of things that I will not want in southern Spain, but probably will on the English legs of the trip in October. Plus it stands a bloody good chance of being waterproof

They are nice and soft and I suspect a couple of light duty ratchet straps will attach this nicely to the rear rail (with a bit of rubber mesh in between).

For me the only decision to make is what size to go for.

Just my thruppence worth, hope it helps.

Has anyone tried these by the way ? I'd be interested in any experience

  4. Decision made - 40 litres in yellow ! (at least i'll be seen, just not cool)

for 20 quid I cant go far wrong.

Waterproof Dry Bag - Dry Bag

  5. Just get some decent straps to secure it, the Hein Gericke ones that came with mine were too short, bungees can make a mess of things with sharp edges, ended up with some Roc straps.

  6. Yes.....wide load!
