Exhausts......

  1. Hi guys, wonder if someone can help or just your opinions would be great.

Only had my Multistrada a couple of weeks but every bike I have, I always seem to change the exhausts, no matter how many times I tell myself that I wont this time...

The issue I have is the Cat, I had a Diavel and changed the silencers for a Remus unit. The cat was in the silencer, so big weight saving and big noise difference. Easy and cheap (ish).

The Multistrada is different I know. If I just change the standard silencer will there be much difference in sound, bearing in mind that the cat and another silencer will still be in place?
    Is this worth the money?

I would love a full system and de-cat but these systems look very expensive.

I also guess that the Termi silencer would be the only one that may not invalidate my warranty?

    Thanks chaps.

  2. Will make no difference to noise or performance just changing can. Need to get rid of cat for improved running and noise. Plenty of previous threads. Search away.

  3. FWIW I am in a similar position and have decided on a Leo Vince link pipe with the Termy stubby on my PP. Seen and heard one last week and owner was happy , sounded lovely.

At risk of hijacking the thread, but this may assist OP in any event, can anyone advise on best place to source LV link pipe.Best I have seen so far is BR Tuning .

    Hope this helps OP

  4. I have done all of the above and still not happy.

Ordered a Termi Stumpy with the bike. No difference in sound:mad:, cant comment on running as never had the full standard system installed.

Ordered and installed the LV decat pipe with Termi end can. Lovely Sound, but a bit too load (got pulled by the plod after 9 miles) and no way of installing a baffle on end can. Bike is running like shite. Really bogging down on low revs, clutching in second it just bogs and flicker red circles on the dash. Not happy.

Ordered a Leo Vince end can now (with baffle) and told the shop they have to check the maps/fuelling when they install. I am still waiting for the can and will report back shortly.

  5. My opinion for what it's worth.I went with various options and settled with the Mivv de-cat,Akrapovic slip-on and a re-map by Chris at CJS.
Puts out 149bhp at the back wheel smooth as you like right through the revs in every gear and sounds awesome.
One of my pals who's a traffic cop says he wouldn't stop me 'cause of the noise.
    Hope this helps.

  6. i have carbon arrow, with arrow cat (extremely small, may not do anything) and arrow connecting pipes... Looks great, saves weight, sounds great... e-stamped. What more could you ask for?

  7. Thanks for this, clearly, there are differing options, but interesting to know that simply putting on the Termi can makes little difference because that was my first idea.
    I'll keep looking.

    Thanks.

  8. Well I have the full Mivv System , I modified the end baffle to get more flow and sound to the levels I wanted. Because the old system was hanging around I cut it apart and removed the cat and everything else. I like the look of the standard system and only changed for more noise and performance. After I put the original, modified, system back on I expeted to have a significant increase in sound, not so just a slight increase. So if you want a little more noise with a standard looking system, then you might consider modifying the standard exhaust as an option. The cost was $100 , this was to TIG weld the system back into shape, Stainless welding was beyond my scope.

  9. Full Termi 2-1 system with ecu & filter, without doubt gives more grunt and sounds bloody brill. The ammount of people that have told me they totally messed their under crackers when I shot passed .

  10. Thats bollocks Mr Super, everybody knows the QuatD with all baffles removed is the daddy. Makes that pathetic thing of yours sound like a C90!!!

  11. Really lol? Which system comes with the better ecu to actually produce a very noticeable power gain? Which one is THE dogs Bollox now then ha ha.

  12. Ok, so if I go the expensive full de-cat system, which I guess is one of the above, Termi or QD. Will the QD ruin my warranty where as the Termi will not effect it?

What happens to the Exhaust flappy valve thingy, I don't mind ditching that but I don't want cables hanging and a flashing dash........

I suppose the Termi system being approved Ducati will have things in place to by-pass these problems, BUT I prefer the look of the QD system.

  13. And which one looks like a 2 metre piece of drain pipe then eh. Think about that before you start with me boy!!!!!

  14. Being honest, it wasn't the easiest thing in the world to fit. Still havn't managed to re-fit the centre stand for example. No problems with warranty though and there is a valve attachment thingy so you dont get problems with error messages.
Plus, its f*cking fabulous, all 3 baffles removed and it sets car alarms off for fun. Is it loud? oh yes, very, very loud. Engine runs like a dream, it cuts the thing loose.

  15. Thanks for that, shame about the stand. I think its is the best looking system but anyone know the full choice of full systems. I think Arrow do one????

  16. Well, Parkinson motorcycles fitted my QD system, and they reckoned it was much easier than the full Termi! That's a pain apparently.... Well... Ojobear is right though...bloody loud with baffles out, but more than acceptable with the muffler baffled in, and it does give the engine a new lease of life...it's hilarious! So much fun to ride.

Ive fitted the centre stand (S-Touring model)... All I did was cut 12mm from the stand support. Simple. Mind you, I had to buy a Dremel to do it, but I've subsequently used it for lots of other things, so money well spent.

Now, here's the rub...you shouldn't have to do this!

But, I have been inn conversation with Manuel, the owner of QD, and he has said that they will be modifying the centre stand stop. I've sent him pictures of before and after, and also recommended that they either put a bit of rubber on the bottom of the bracket, or make it shorter and put a hole in it so you can reuse the rubber bung that comes with the bike.

    My advice?

Bot the Termi and QD are good, so go with the one you like.

If you buy the QD, and you have a centre stand, make sure you they have modified the centre stand stop. Otherwise, don't buy it...unless you are up for some cutting. It's a small thing really, but spoils an otherwise excellent product.

  17. I reckon that if you fit a rubber to the stop it will position the centre stand too low and risk it touching down when cornering.

  18. That'll be why I told Manuel at QD that if you were to re-use the original rubber bung, then the centre stand stop would need to be 10mm "shorter" (to accommodate the bung, but not compromise ground clearance).. ;-)

But yes, as a retro-fit, any rubber will have to be quite thin... Probably better than nothing though, as currently it is metal on metal...possibly not ideal.

  19. Do you think he will listen? I got no joy from him.
