  2. I had an appointment years ago to have an external fixator removed from my right arm. Two screws into the thumb and two in the wrist, linked by a bar. After two months of this thing, I was ready to see the back of it.

The consultant examined the thumb and pronounced me ready to have the fixator removed and said he'd arrange for a date for the operation.
I said, "Sorry, no, this appointment was for me to have the thing removed, I want it removed!".
Consultant told me that I needed a general anaesthetic and that wasn't going to happen today.
I said, "Give me a local and get this thing out of me!".
Consultant told me, no, a local won't help at all.
I said, "Can I survive the removal without any anaesthetic?".
Consultant said, yes, but it won't be pleasant.
    "OK".

You understand the expression, "Your bowels turned to water" after you've had a procedure like this performed without an anaesthetic. Urgh.

  9. Was reading your other "I can't decide" thread earlier. FWIW I think your right to be keeping a Duc in the garage. It's going to be a cracking threesom.

  10. Superb results - hopefully I'll have a similar experience following my trip to CJS. And as an aside - good on you for sorting things out proper before you move it on - there are a fair few decent people in this world but I swear they are lessening!

  11. Yeah - looks like itll be that way but I really am 50 50 - one day ill think duc - the next BMW....the BM looks to be smaller, not as tall and a fair bit lardier, a la z1000 (something I like) but love the engine characteristics of the duc...just saying what im thinking...the duc is twice as far away as thd beemer as well...

  12. Well....just been out on it...galfer discs fitted. No problems with the brakes now...the first time ive been out on it in the dry since monday coming home in the pissing rain and i can quite safely say that. Is the most violent thing ive ever ridden.....hope an sf is the same.

  13. I still don't understand why you're getting rid of such a sorted Hyper. I've never ridden a streetfighter but the early reviews were not very positive if my memory serves me correctly - have you had a test ride on one and if so what is it that makes you want to leave the Hyper Club?

I know you've just built a supermoto so is that better than the Hyper and if not why not sell that one?

  14. Well, the ktm isn't finished yet....still a lot of wiring to do + but as I said its more about the style and seating position, plus ive always wanted one of the new supernaked's a 1290 sd would be nice but way out of my price range....the ktm is a true supermoto the hyper not so but that doesn't make it any less capable...I suppose I may get the ktm running and working, maybe flog it and then get another hyper - but an older one and then do the same again...just a thought...

  15. .........have you had a test ride on the sf?

  16. The thing about reviews is it is down to personal preference of the reviewer.

I could have sworn the SF had a good write up though, I have one its a brilliant bike mind you mine is the baby 848.

  17. No. There's none round here...they're all up north...sat on an 848 in riders ....very comfortable...

  18. I would have a test ride if I were you. When I traded my R1 in for the Hyper I initially tried the Triumph Speed Triple because of all the "Best in Class" reviews but after an hour riding it I knew it wasn't right for me. Took a Hyper for a test and have never looked back.

  19. Yep....in fact i was going to do just that...gonna have a go on a z1000 on saturday and if i can get it the s1000r.....as i say there are no sf's around, but as i say the 848 felt nice and comfortable.

  20. Just remember what you said, the hyper is the only bike you've bought 2 of!!!! I was also set to buy a cb1000r I'd chosen my exhaust and worked out all I wanted. When I went for the test ride i saw the hyper and tried it for a laugh and I've been laughing ever since (and mines only the baby one)!
