I picked up a left over '14 Pikes Peak in February. Have put just over 700 miles on it so far. We shaved off the Mounting Rack/Pillion Handles. I wanted a sportier look for the tail section. I have a few more modification to post up.
Just finished the installation of the EvoTech Oil Cooler Guard, Radiator Guard, Head Guard and Tail Tidy. I am still waiting on the Exhaust Header Guard. Thanks for looking!
I pulled all the emission stickers off and stuck them inside the owners manual. I will just keep the owners manual in the back compartment for verification if needed. New picture without the stickers!
We finished the final assembly of the DP Race Full Termignoni Exhaust. We cut the muffler down to just under half the original length. We cut off the tab for the center stand bumper. We removed the Exhaust Servo Motor and bracket from the bike. We also had everything coated in a Semi Gloss Black High Temp Powdercoat. I will load up the pictures first then we will load up a sound clip later.
We went for a short ride over to the beach to try it out. It is actually a very nice deep tone unless you snap the throttle and make it bark.
I like it all...except the black tail pipe...just personal taste. Making it shorter it seems like a great idea and the black pipes looks good, mine is ceramic coated. Don't forget the ABS sensor protection on the front wheel. I've all the same guards except the exhaust one. I made my back end even cleaner by doing away with the rear indicators and having them in the rear light cluster. 2010-2014 Ducati Multistrada 1200 Blaster-X Integrated LED Tail Light – Custom LED
Out of pure chit-chat AirCon; could you have used both the indicators & custom-led with like a tee-piece connector?
The only downside would be a custom lead and the indicators may (I don't know) flash too slow. I assume the customled rear light may have some ballast to load the circuit. To test take off one indicator, does the other one flash fast? If yes then the answer is probably no, without serious intervention in the circuitry.
Thanks for the replies! A quick shifter may be in the future, I have to look more into the options. I have the quick shifter on the "R" and miss it when I first take off on the "PP". The Black muffler was done to make it look like it blends more with all the other black on the bike. I am still contemplating putting a small Termignoni emblem on it? I have found the small foil backed emblems in red, white and black that would look nice. The powdercoat company that I work with all the time for our production fabricated parts wanted to try the new High Temp Powdercoat. It cures in the oven at 450 degrees for 15 minutes then finishes the cure on the bike. You need to ride the bike for an hour to finish the cure of the powder. It seems to be just as nice as the ceramic coat I have done in the past. We will see how it holds up on the bike. I may have to do the integrated tail-light if I want to use the side cases. The rear signals get in the way right now.
Very nice....liking all of that especially cutting the grab handles from the rear tail piece! Thinking bout doing the same but occasionally use a top box. Is that the tail piece cover from Carbon De world?
Cool! Didn't it leave any holes when you cut them off? I only say that as I watched the video on the carbon world site for their cover.
No, it didn't leave any holes. What you see is the stock plastic, no paint or anything. I blended it and worked it with scotchbrites to get the finish back.
